Permanent fix of construction faulty pressure regulation on Mk1 Bosch commonrail pumps.

Thank you. Solved a long-standing problem of P1229 DTC (common rail over pressure) on Toyota Yaris diesel. Contaminated fuel was the cause. As you point out - the mesh filter is collecting particles which are already in the common rail system. The fuel that is released by the valve goes to the high pressure pump where it joins the over-pressure fuel from the pump itself - this all goes back to the tank where it should get filtered again. The mesh filter might protect the valve mechanism but causes more problems than it solves.

Tnx, i have multiple times problems with that regulator in fiat jtd 1.9 115hp engine, it is same bosh regulator, new regulator is about 100e, i changed that 2 times i 25 000km i will now tray to cut 😁, tnx. Car is old, i suppose nothing bad will happen. Compression is excellent in all cilinder. My fiat just off when motor start to brake, when i push throttle going well, but when going down hill, motor off. First time when i changed it was irregular idle, second time he just don't want to start, or start very hard, now just engine off when go down hill.

Those wire cutters or nippers at 10:50 are not a pliers as some might say for the English wording. Have enjoyed your video. I have the T1N Sprinter. Before that I had 180D's years ago.

Thats originally designed to cut fibre optical cables, manufacturer Lindström. They are a bit expensive cca 40 EUR, but its shape and material is great. I have driven Sprinter 312D doublecab car teansporter, 2,9 TD... that engine and gearbox was simply undestructible. After couple of years I bought Peug Boxer Doublecab car transporter, so I repaired all the rust, and now I buyed 2,0 HDI engine with stock 62 kw :-) but only 70k miles so engine is very good.

@@marekminar4724 I bought the Peugeot 304 in '70 and later the 405. Too bad the US does not have the latest Peugeots. For the money Peugeot is a good buy and I miss the economy and handling Peugeot has.

Hi, thanks for very informative video. After CP1 gasket change I got problems after 5min idle: Check engine-light turned on and engine was running about 4sec after ignition was turned off. I removed valve and noticed that filter was totally clogged, I cut the filter and re-shaped cutting point back to round shape. After third start Check engine-light went off and even after 15min idle no Check engine-light and switching ignition off shuts down engine instantly.

Thank you very much for this informative video. Your English is VERY good, so no need to apologise. Just a question - when this regulator is told by the sensor to release high pressure, where does the extra pressure go (as there are no pipes connected to the regulator)? FPM (abbreviation) means "Fluoro Rubber" which is the material that the O ring is made from, as you said.

Thank You, this is only coil (solenoid) operated needle valve. Its driven with PWM signal directly from engine control unit. Pressure sensor is located on rail itself, so ECU keeps the pressure within limits. The extra fuel (or pressure-its the same) goes thru the valve and directly into the return pipe of high pressure pump. You cant see any waste hose, just because waste channel is bored sideways into the pump body, see CP1 cut view. :-)

@@marekminar4724 Thanks Marek. I have trouble on an old FIAT 2.0 diesel van (2005) - there is no fuel coming out of the pump (but I can hear it returning in the pipe I think) The van has been left for a few years so I think the pump is rusted inside...

@@Showing_the_car_ exactly the same engine as pug boxer. originaly this engine is peugeot hdi code RHV. Dont give up starting attempts. Old diesel with bio just sticked internal valves in the hp pump together. I slvedthe same issue with fuel pump relay removal and i left lift pump just run for long time, approx a few hours. Diesel fuel from tank will slowly disdolve all that mess. For efficienci increase, dont be afraid to ad some solvent (acetone, petrol...) into the tank (one litre per 20 ltr diesel. Then still try to start the car, with charger connected. after a half a milion starting attempts, it will wake up slowly :-) then let the engine on idle for another hour, it will maybe run rough and badly, but it will be better and better :-)

hello, I saw the video very well explained. I would need if possible if you can advise me. I have a 207 Hdi 2.0 dw10TD engine, about a month ago I noticed that when I turned it off the engine took between 2 and 3 seconds to stop. The days went by and I noticed that at times I was not accelerating as well as I should have. About 3 days ago I started the CHECH ENGINE, the engine loses power and slowly stops. I have a portable OBD2 that I use with the cell, I scan it gives the code P0088 (over pressure from the common Raúl ramp) and P1352. I erase the codes. To all this I check the connectors of the sensors all connected, after about 10 minutes the check starts disappearing. The car works and after 2 or 3 km the same. And this time I want to turn it off, it stays on for about 10 seconds. What I noticed is the very noisy pump, right where the high pressure regulator valve goes. My question what could it be? Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!

Hi John, Thank You for watching. As far as i remember, a few seconds idle after ignition off is one of the symptoms. If You have DTC overpressure, there are basically two options. Faulty high pressure sensor itself (not a common case) or this pressure relief valve clogged as seen in video. Remove that filtering cap carefully, clean it and lets try :-)

@@jhonnbass157 Seems to be no coincidence with service. High pressure pump is lubed by fuel and there is no common factor for oil change and injection system. If You here noise from high press. pump, maybe You are only more focused to it. Try to remove this tiny filter from drv valve and lets see. Remember to post me Your result!

@@jhonnbass157 maybe if service included fuel filter change, its possible that small amount of debris got into fuel line and pump itself causing this. This is only coincidence i can take... Dont be afraid to do this job, sooner or later it will appear so there us no reason not to do it.

@@marekminar4724 hello, well in the end I took it to the mechanic since I didn't have time to look at it and disarm it. The problem was the clogged valve pre-filter, it was cleaned. It gets dirty with metal shavings which I didn't ask if I made that modification that appears in your video. I don't remember exactly what the mechanic told me about that. The car already works well, it does not make the mentioned faults, such as taking a few seconds to turn off the engine, now it accelerates well and the engine is less noisy, as well as the noise of the high pressure pump. At the moment everything works. Thank you very much for helping to understand the error! It's common on HDIs.

Engine behaves the same as before. This small "filter" is a construction fault. It should filter particles from high pressure pump not to enter to needle valve mechanism. Good when pump is new and does not produce much worn-out particles. When pump getting older, amount and size of particles increases (without major problems with injectors and other parts), but this filter gets clogged and therefore, DRV valve is not able to regulate pressure with controlled "leak", so the rail pressure increases and self-diagnosis built-in ECU stops the engine to prevent damage caused by overpressure. After removing, particles simply pass through the valve without causing any damage for it. In my fiat doblo van, have this done last 20.000 kms without single problem. Dont be afraid to remove :-)

@@marekminar4724 I have a regulator from Rover 75 cdt with Bosch Cp1 pump. How do you check the solenoid if it's ok? I measured with ohmeter and shows 2,8-3.0 ohm. Thank's in advance from Austria!

@Marek Minář it might help with flow into the pump. I'm wondering how much this filter affects fuel flow even when clean. I have a high powered e39 530d with upgraded cp1 pump and it keeps throwing EML after hard acceleration. May try cutting filter first before purchasing new solenoid. But also wondering if larger diameter holes will increase flow

@@martynwhiteside6737 Are You sure with this? As far as I know this acts like overflow valve and should not affect quantity of delivered fuel. Or is ther something I've missed? Do you have smaller belt pulley on cp1 pump so DRV valve is not large enough to relief high pressure?

@@martynwhiteside6737 If You have smaller pulley on cp, and overpressure peaks occuring in high rpms or after sudden throttle release, there is simply too small DRV valve or its too slow... What about a bit bigger high pressure pump?

Zdravim,chcem vás poprosiť o radu...mám Mondeo Mk3 a príznaky sú že auto ma nepravidelný chod motora na voľnobehu asi pár sekúnd,po pár sekundách je všetko v pohode ,ale keď ho nechám pár minút na voľnobehu napr.5 minút a chcem sa pohnúť pridám plyn ako by plynový pedál nereagoval a začne blikať zjavenie a auto zhasne.hned nato naštartujem a auto beží ako má...dal som to na diagnostiku a píše že nízky tlak paliva , môže to robit ten regulátor paliva? Lebo počas jazdy sa mi to stane málo kedy že začne blikať zhavenie a auto zhasne počas jazdy...väčšinou to robí na voľnobehu ..diesel 2.0 TDCi ďakujem a pekný deň prajem.

Jsou 2 typy TDCI- jeden má commonrail Bosch (OK) a druhý snad delphi nebo niečo podobné. Jestli nemáte bosch, máte ko čerpadlo a i vstřikovače.

Ďakujem pekne za odpoveď,ešte sa chcem spýtať keby boli vstrekovace a čerpadlo ko prejavilo by sa to nejak na výkone? Lebo auto ma ťah ani netrha nič také .len keď je na voľnobehu vtedy počuť ako keby bežal len na tri valce ,ďakujem ešte raz za odpoveď.

Really the pump should be striped down overhauled and cleaned cutting off the filter will lead to the all the muck/filings getting into the injectors and cloging them up, that could be expensive repair the filtrr if there for a reason

this is overflow valve ;-) hence filings goes back to the tank and circulating through fuel filter, so there it ends up;-)

Hi master! My car wont s start at all.... I put a 9 v baterry on terminals, and I cant hear nothing, you think its block or something? It s a simptom? When I removed that valve, The filter it s already mising, you think she Was like that from factor or somebody removed it?

maybe 9v battery is too weak togive 3-5 Amps ;) Try it with car battery for short time

@@marekminar4724 měl by tento ventil cvakat když ho připojím na 12 voltů? Ten můj nic nedělá auto trápili dlouhé teplé starty a dostal jsem tip že to může způsobovat tento ventil. A když bych koupil nový značky Bosch tak jsem koukal že k němu také nedodávají ten ó kroužek.Je nutného tedy dokoupit nebo už jde o modifikovaný díl? Děkuji za odpověď
