2:48 - How could a human being, man or woman, not to fall in love with a face like that? Whether he is good or bad, comes after that. Beauty has its price, and it´s always the highest one.

Thank you, Dolores! I don't think we should blame Bosie too much. Of course he was thoughtless and he was the reason of Wilde's downfall, but I think it was mainly because of the age they both lived in... Oh my saint Oscar... :(

This is very tragic. I wish that poor Oscar Wilde a highly intelligent man an intellectual had never met Bosie. Oscar Wilde was beautiful both inside and out. True beauty comes from within. Bosie and his father were terrible people to Oscar Wilde they were a bad, destructive influence. Oscar Wilde deserved much better. Oscar Wilde should have been more careful who he was friends with. Robbie Ross seemed like a genuine friend to Oscar Wilde.

He was reputed to be stunningly beautiful, but in photographs he looks quite insipid, though of course in black and white, it would hardly be possible to appreciate the golden gilt hair and dreamy blue eyes for which he was famed.

+SuperStargazer666 I agree it was said that Bosie was very beautiful but when I looked up photographs of him I didn't really see what they were talking about. (I actually thought Oscar Wilde looked mush more beautiful than Bosie...My only explanation of this is The pictures of Bosie are in black and white and old 19 century camaras, I imagine, could not take very good pictures, as cameras can today...so of course they çan't show the real beauty Bosie had.I can kind of see what they are talking about with Bosie though...i dont know if it's just me but if I stare at his pictures long enough, I can imagine how he would be viewed as beautiful...the curly hair, the dreamy eyes, he had very soft features...to the point that he almost looks like a girl in how pretty he is.I think that Bosie today would be called a "pretty boy." Which alot of people think is attractive, including myself. I recently watched the movie "Wïlde" where Jude Law, played Bosie...he had the same curly hair and dreamy eyes as the real Bosie, and if you look at him in that movie, you get an idea of how beautiful Bosie was. Heres an example s426.photobucket.com/user/scatcattiness/media/DeuxBosie.jpg.html

Donald sinden tells an interesting story in his autobiography about how he met 'Bosie' years later living in a B&B. Things were ok until Sinden asked him about Oscar. Apparently the 'Rose lipped youth' blew a gasket and fully displayed the infamous Douglas family rage for a short while. Afterwards he spoke very tenderly of Oscar. Its most likely he fully understood his role in Oscars downfall. And was suffering hells fire while alive..........

@@degsbabe Wrong. Things were okay until Sinden take the 1914 book ("full of vitriol") about Wilde written by Bosie, because the old Douglas changed his mind and were now emotional in his late 1940s. He regretted the book. When he spoke of Wilde, he used to cry. Read Sinden's memoirs again.

Looks were partly important. To judge from his writing - Wilde had very concrete aesthetic aspirations, not only in art, but far extending into human relations. He wrote: "Some write the poetry that they dare not realize [in their lives]." Some of the bravado that Wilde prefigured in art, but lacking in Victorian society, may have been embodied by Douglas, in life - as perceived by WIlde himself. Which, to Wilde, must have been a very ecstatic realization, thus securing his attachment to Bosie.

I do think that "The Picture of Dorian Grey" has got to have some inspiration from the real life Bosie and Oscar -where the beautiful youth who gets corrupted and turns evil (even for Lord Wotton) Dorian is Bosie and the cynical corrupting Lord Henry Wotton is Oscar Wilde.

It may have been about John Gray. He didn't know Bosie at the time he wrote the book. Bosie was a fan of Oscar Wilde. Bosie read the book Dorian Gray over and over again. Bosie was like a hanger-on to Oscar Wilde's fame, greatness, kindness and success. Bosie was an abused child he was abused by his father and he was from aristocracy he wasn't a nice person. Bosie seems conceited he had a sense of entitlement because of his upbringing. Bosie seemed very damaged by his abusive father and family background.

Ok, I'm going to state the obvious: I wish the entire screen was used! This dumb narrow-screen business is driving me crazy! As for Bosie-well, Oscar talked about the 2 things in life that are regretful-both not getting-or getting what you desire. He could've rejected Bosie and been safer...but he was in love...He's lucky Bosie didn't get him killed by his pyscho dad.
