The Bosnian Pyramids have captivated historians, archaeologists & enthusiasts worldwide for nearly 2 decades, but are these truly pyramids, or are they just mountains with a slight pyramidal shape that some people want you to believe are man-made pyramids?

So if you think that attacking a person's character unmercifully, unverified, along with a few unproven accusations, is science? You' are mistaken. There are several reputable institutions (labs) where results have contradict the aforementioned geologists. Neither side of this argument has anywhere near the scientific burden of proof. However, I've only seen one side resort to relentless, unscientific character attacks. Why?

I think this would happen a lot less if the archaeological and historical establishment wasn’t so hostile to legitimate challenges to their deeply held biases that are clearly highly flawed. This kind of fanatical orthodoxy produces an environment ripe for fanatical conspiracists to challenge all conventional notions about everything and leads to the overall extreme distrust that the public has for experts. This problem extends to pretty much every sector of society nowadays, particularly in the scientific and medical hierarchies.

@@abramizaackaplan6723 "[I]f the archaeological and historical establishment wasn’t so hostile to legitimate challenges". They're really not. Of course all are inclined to defend 'their' ideas preferentially, some more than others. But it seems to me those attracted to contrarian ideas often feel them slighted when they're not granted credit unearned. Many have labored for years or decades to provide evidentiary support to radical ideas that ultimately proved to be sound, if not wholly at least in part. So why should anyone lend equal credence and respect to some wild idea proposed with little or any evidentiary support at all? it's not established science's responsibility to treat every hypothesis with equal respect, or, in fact, with any respect at all., It's up to those proposing such to earn it.

I believe the same. Humans have been historically capable of shaping massive amounts of land with just enough shovels and workers, some entirely man-made hills pre-dating even the Sumerians. The Eildon Hill (or hills) SE of Edinburgh in Scotland have had similar fanciful stories told of it (them). The larger one is pretty close to a true pyramidal shape. One legend has it that King Arthur is buried there (along with dozens of other such claims about his final resting place on the island of Great Britain). There is a similarity between this human tendency and the tendency to see anthropomorphic and animal shapes in the clouds and stars at night. Our brains are wired to work this way because of our pattern matching ability, which enables us to react quickly to potential threats.

Archaeologist Carl Feagans has suggested that Osmanagic appeals to Bosnia nationalist at a time of continuing struggle with economic and social difficulties since the war. Thousands of people in the region were killed in the war, and "authorities estimate the Visoko region suffered about $200 million in damage with the destruction of infrastructure and factories." With a current of 11,000, the town of Visoko has many shop owners who are glad to have tourist traffic to help generate revenue in the local and regional economy. Some Bosnians who have volunteered to dig or otherwise work at the site are glad to have something positive to work for.

A world without profit or capitalism definitely won't have any science. To start with it would have nothing to spend on science. And since profit and capitalism can only be prevented by organized force, 'science' in that society would amount to whatever those who controlled that force wanted it to be. Sounds like you want to re-create medieval Catholicism and the Inquisition, except without any bothersome 'rule book'. Politics is just the struggle over what to do with collective assets contributed (or expropriated) to collective ends. There's no politics about private assets. You do what you want with yours, I do what I want with mine, and no struggle, political or otherwise, is required. But as soon as there's anything that's 'ours', there's going to be politics, because how else do 'we' decide what to do with 'our' stuff? The problem here isn't capitalism at all. If someone owned the hills and built an 'Ancient Pyramid Park' they might manage a bit of 'another road side attractions', for a while, as endlessly crop up here and there (Creation Museum, anyone?). But only when he has the sanction and support of the Bosnian government, the people who control the force that manages the common property, can he thrive. The minute the Bosnian government withdraws its sanction, protection and subsidies, he's on his way out.

Nah. Usually they're just crackpots, madmen, fanatics or vociferous dreamers. It's only when they decide to sell their fantasies to the credulous as something else that they become frauds. And while 'fraud' has a definite meaning, it's not limited to financial ends. Scientific frauds occur for the end of an unearned or undeserved credit or reputation too. It all really boils down to whether or not a reasonable person would be expected to be aware a representation of not supported by evidence or facts, is unsound. A madman who really believes he's the manifestation of an alien intelligence, who convinces another he really is, isn't a 'fraud', just a convincing madman. And there are always many ingenuous enough to find madness attractive and convincing.

Maybe. Of course, the one certain way to make money in a gold rush is to mine the miners (sell them over-priced prospecting equipment, food, and for a certain presidential grandfather, rent beds and human bed-warmers). Alternatively, survey the region's streams with a shovel and a pan (£2 ; £5 for an unnecessarily fancy pan) and decide whether or not to move on with far less effort than digging a tunnel anywhere. Damn - the gold mine which I applied to for a job (as site geologist) 2 years ago has gone bust. Pretty much as expected. At least the investor's money got turned into saleable equipment, if not long-term jobs. So they might get a few pennies on the pound back. I only got a trace of colours when I worked that hillside in the '80s.

The English government did in reality allow the ruination of the entire Stonehenge site long ago. This is documented fact. People think they're looking at what ancient people put there, when in reality that's not at all the case. Though I can easily accept what you are relaying about these hills in Bosnia, I certainly do not automatically accept any claims coming from the carefully gatekept mainstream archeological community, nor any published claims of fact. Another point about ancient structures that requires reiteration is that nature will eventually claim anything men can erect, and at some time those creations will appear as nothing more than natural formations. Thanks Kayleigh for telling me about this video. Afghanistan has thousands of miles of tunnels everywhere. The mountains are not man made. I have myself came to conclusions on native American sites that I misinterpreted. For some people it is impossible to admit it's a hoax and they took the bait. Thanks again Kayleigh.

P.S. It would be an interesting study to look at pattern visualization in natural landscapes. We tend to find what we look for, and since the light, shadow, view angles of natural shapes are under constant change, there are plenty of opportunities to see things that are not really there. Like when you walk through a dark woods at night and your mind fills in the shadows. Remember Canals on Mars, the man in the moon, roads under the sea, and all the mountains in the American West named Pyramid Mountain. Good episode. 🙂

Maybe it's an attempt to improve local tourism? A Roman fort isn't as exciting as a mysterious ancient civilization. You need a mysterious ancient civilization for New Age tourism in volumes. So, in that sense, makes him a hero to his town. I just hope Gudang Padang is the real deal

Awesome awesome video! I think the reason people like this are gaining traction, like Osmanagich and Graham Hancock, etc. is that people WANT to believe. I won't comment on how religions or cults are formed but the same principles are undeniably there. And in this internet age, with enough enthusiasm and tact, you can find people who will go along with ANYTHING. That's why it's important to me to listen to those interested in pursuing evidence and discount those in pursuit of a specific IDEA. ✌️

Lots of mountains are pyramid shaped. It's my understanding that these Bosnian "pyramids" are mountains that have been mined for a long time by the local inhabitants. Not far from where I live there is a mountain that's pyramidal in shape. But, it's not a manmade (or alien made) pyramid either.

Ha, it is amusing to me that there seem to be 4 types of people when dealing with "how old is civilization. 1) ones who think aliens gave us civilization and spread it around the world. 2) those that think there was a lost civilization that became advanced enough to be global, or at least had enough of an influence to have similar architecture, but was destroyed by some cataclysm. 3) the ones that think certain civilizations just sprung up and various times in the past in many locations throughout history. 4) the creationists that think the world is only 6000-ish years old... All of them are based on interpretations of evidence. This evidence just differs greatly as do the interpretations. For example, 4 uses the Bible and interpretations of that as their only evidence. Number 3 keeps finding new evidence that pushes back the dates of everything, and in some cases gets close enough to at least maybe make them go into the 2nd category. The 1st category is at least very entertaining and at least gets people interested in history, if not weird hairstyles.

The idea that all opinions are equally valid , and that the role of the bonafide expert is vastly diminished. The internet has certainly exacerbated the trend .

Hello Kayle. I agree with your thoughts about this pyramide in Bosnia. But as for its shape, it is possible the ancients saw the mountain as a holy place. There are many places, and i recall Peru as one of them, where mountains have been shaped. Which is not the case on this Bosnian pyramid. Every time a publication about the Bosnian pyramids comes into my attention, i must think about the video's the Spanish KZfaqr Eliseo Benito Lopez produces about what he calls The Mother Civilisation, a culture that build paths and altars in the mountains of Barcelona, but as he claims, it was a global late neolitic culture of stone working and animistic beliefs. The arquitecture he calls organic, means the stones have been hardly worked on and kept their natural shape that can symbolize an animal for example. But he at least comes with real proofs the place was shaped into a sacred net of paths and altars. And yes, he shows the works that are aboundant in the area, and they look real, very real. The problem is, the arqueologists of the area are not motivated to go and study the different examples. Eliseo claims the ancients builded the mountain, which is, or better said, sounds exagerated. But fact is, there is a lot of pathways constructions with terrasses and contention structures. And they are not Roman as the arqueologists say yhey are, from behind their desks. And if they look for some stone age residues in the soil of a cavern, they just destroy the place. Even as a monument stapled stones are thrown away. Another point arqueologists seem to be very sceptic on is the theory of polymere's made by ancient civilisations like in Peru, thou lately there is some important curiosity towards this hypotesis. As many ruins show megaliths, then on places that look like have been restored, the stones are completely diferent. Like in Sachsayhuaman, where the giant stones show very strange features, and their composition is alterated from the composition the quarrystones show. It is said, they have been crused to sand and reshaped on the spot. And chemical analisis from the stones at Sachsayhuaman have shown residues of nails, hairs and other organic matters inside the building stone. As prospectors use to do, pour vinegar on some stones to melt them and get the ore out when sampling. Fermentation was known in the Inca timeline, and before. If you watch Eliseo's video's, and the last weeks he produced some good examples, as well some guy in the Canary Islands also posts his findings on his channel. There is a lot to be questioned about Europeans for sure, and certainly the entire ancient humanity as well, started a building technique by reshaping their environment, keeping it natural. Organic Arquitecture? But if some says the Bosnian "pyramides" have been seen as sacred by the ancients, i believe that. And also i'll believe the ancients did some slight changes, paths, altars and ceremonial places, even ceremonial caverns. But not shaping the mountain entirely. The Andeans, people from The Andes that is, respected mountains and still do, they call them Apu's, and it is believed, still, as powerfull, with some mytical powers of such magnitude that some fear these Apu's.

Tourist attractions made to order sounds like a good business model. It is always easier to fake science, and very often more profitable - see the Indiana Jones franchise. See also: researchers claimed last month (Dec 2023) that the Gunung Padang site in West Java, Indonesia, is the world’s most ancient pyramid and could be more than 25,000 years old, (The Guardian). The assertion made headlines around the world but has since led to a fierce backlash from many archaeologists....
