This is exactly what I needed to hear, comparing side by side along with mic, and different playing styles. Have to listen more to decide. Thanks for the great video!!

A very Good Review. Thank You very Much Marc. Myself, I like the Boss best, but the TC is Not bad at all. I like it also, Yes. Think I will buy both.

I got the REZ. I use to use a 7 band EQ pedal and compressor. Now just the REZ. I just run the REZ at around 12:00. I tried to match up with the EQ and Comp to the REZ but could not quite hit it the same. Its not earthshaking by far but OK.

I owned both, and the Bodyrez was better than the AD-2. The Boss was too compressed and the EQ was really dark as you turn the Resonance knob up, while the Bodyrez remained more natural.

For live playing Boss is the winner... but both pedal is great; its just a matter of taste.

Nice! Great informative video. Thanks. I feel the Boss has a more dramatic obvious effect whereas the TC is more subtle. Which is better is subjective and also dependent on context. If you're a solo performer, the bigger Boss sound could be more satisfying. If you're trying to fit into a mix with other things, the TC could give you great cut without clouding over the other instruments. I personally like the subtle, tighter sound of the TC. But I hear great flavors from both pedals.

Great review. Where would you place the Bodyrez or AD-2 in the signal chain with other pedals (compression, reverb, delay, chorus, etc.)?

I think Boss sounded a small amount better, and you get reverb and notchfilter on Boss ad-2. I am buying Boss ad-2.

Between the two pedals, Boss wins easily. Of course a mic sounds natural and great but playing live in church and having to stand at the mic just isn't going to happen. I owned the AD-2, sold it when I got the T-Rex Acoustic Soulmate, but if I ever go back to separate pedals, the AD-2 will be in the lineup. Just my $.02, definitely try for yourself. Also, the reverb you get in the AD-2 is subtle but really quite nice. And the output is a true DI, a simple ¼" to XLR cable gets you into the PA. I just like the Boss better, if I had to survive with 2 pedals it'd be the AD-2 and the TU-3 tuner. The BodyRez just sounds too metallic for my ears.

Thanks for the comment. The True DI is a really good feature of the Boss.

Are you content with trex? Isnt boss ad10 better?

Since it's $300 less, probably IS better, lol! You get AD-2 circuitry built right in. But I ordered the T-Rex RIGHT before the AD-10 was available and I'm quite happy with it, even at the high cost. The only feature I wasn't crazy about with the AD-10 when I saw the demo was that you have to use two feet at once for one of the functions, I think with the looper. I'm too clumsy for that. ;-) I've worked with the T-Rex a lot and it's sounding good right now through our sound system. I learned that the Taylor E2 system sounds best when the volume on the guitar is full up. I was leaving it in center detent which made it sound metallic. But that's not really related to this thread, other than if you have a Taylor, run it full up.

Important point if you're singing, you DON'T want vocals and guitar jockeying for position in the mix. Thanks for bringing that point up. I'm all solo, so the vocal thing didn;t even cross my mind. Guess I better stream in something else besides Tommy Emmanuel, lol.

Hi Travis - thanks fopr the comment! The reason that I only used one guitar, is that I only own one acoustic with a piezo pickup, so I didn't have any other options unfortunately. Marc

Hi Daniel - I put details in the description, but basically I didn't really like easier and sent them both back. To me the sound is more processed not more natural. They kinda sounded 'produced'. There wasn't much to choose between them, and they would suit certain applications, but not for old style blues.

If I'm not mistaken that Takamine has a built in cool tube preamp. Seems like there's no point for body resonator pedals when you already have that onboard preamp. Personally I'd like to hear it with a lower end guitar with no on board preamp
@MarcGuitarVideos
@MarcGuitarVideos 4 жыл бұрын
I don't know about a 'cool tube' preamp (certainly there's no tubes inside it). It does have a pre-amp like most piezo equipped electros. If you are interested it's a SantaFe from '97.

@0713mas 4 жыл бұрын
@@MarcGuitarVideos Well I know they did put the cooltube preamp in the Santa Fe's. Great review! And I agree with everything you said. I just know those Takamines have really great pickup systems even in the 1990s
@MarcGuitarVideos
@MarcGuitarVideos 4 жыл бұрын
@@0713mas Yes, you are right, it is a great pre-amp. To me it still doesn't sound like a mic in front of the guitar, and I was hoping one of these pedals would have got me closer to that mic sound. Thanks for the great comment

@@0713mas I own the PSF48C - from the same period. These came with the Accuracoustic preamp, not the cooltube. They later revised the model and called it TSF48C which you can buy today which comes with the Cooltube 3. The Accuroacoustic preamps gradually died off, faulty electronics. I've since put the Cooltube 2 in mine but it wasnt as nice as the Accuroacoustic. I've also fitted the CT4-DX which is very close to the Accuracoustic and sounds punchy. My Accuracoustic is in for repair for the 2nd time after years not using it. When it works its a fantastic punchy preamp.

I find more and more that the pickup is important, as is the ability to EQ for the specific sound, but it also depends on what you're going through amplifier wise. I may be able to get a guitar to sound more microphone like especially with some soundboard transducers, through a fishman loudbox, but at a bigger venue with a band, you may have to allow in some of that quack to cut through the mix and although dual sourcing with something like a microphone or contact mic helps emmensly, it also can be prone to feedback. I had a little green zoom A2 multi-effects that made my Takamine G series sound awesome through a little beringer amp. I dual sourced it with the LR baggs M1 going through the original TC Helicon VLP GTX, and to this day, that is my favorite combination for practice and writing but I don't think it would hold up in a larger venue with a band or even with another guitar player. Ty for the information... So many toys, so little time!

I decided against both. For the old style blues I play, they both had too much of a modern/processed sound. Would suit many players, but not what I was looking for.
