Replacing BADLY worn Bosses and pins on this Kubota loader. This machine has been used and abused. I replaced the pins a few months back but I guess they stopped taking grease at some point, so they stopped greasing it! This thing gives me a rough time coming apart, but will going back together be easier?! These are the rough days as a repair welder. I’m not a magician but I’m often asked to play one. Equipment repair is always a trip!

I watch those Pakistani truck repair videos too. I made scissor lifts for a year, and hitting those bushings with a hammer all around helps keep the pins from binding up when you put them back in. A line boring setup is nice, especially if you could find a used one to do these kinds of jobs on heavier machinery.

Yeah good job Anthony I’ve done a few of those over the years myself and there’s a couple different ways I’ve done those jobs. I’ve cut out those bosses like you did but those Kinda repairs out in the field kind of suck I’ve also have measured about sometimes a foot sometimes 8 inches back from the end of the arm and cut off square take the piece back fabricate two new pieces with the bosses welded in then Double bevel the plate and just weld them in with 7018 like you were doing a structural play test then another way I’ve done especially with a small machine like that is instead of one long boss just cut them off flush on either side of arm and weld a boss on either side Opening the arm plate a little bit so it accommodates the pin once the pin slides through And connects to the quick connect plate works fine that little bit of 1 inch where there’s no boss in the middle ain’t Going to affect that pin at all specially on those small Machines after all it’s just a guide for the Pin And makes for a lot faster job to complete anyway good job though
