I totally agree. This car isn’t for an insane SQ build. I just wanted to upgrade from what was already there, and modernize it a bit. The is Boss HU, along with the RF speakers and sound deadening I did certainly achieved that in my book :-). This radio spends more time sounding navigation commands and podcasts through the speakers than bumping music (but for the music duty the setup did exceed my expectations!).

@whitemanisgod It sounds like you have the bass covered! The Alpine HU will provide a much cleaner signal for both your bass amp and the amp for the high/ mids. You mentioned preferring quality sound over loudness. So If it were MY car with that goal in mind, I would get that Alpine HU you're looking at, go with 2 pairs of 6.5" component speakers (like REAL components with a crossover, not the RF I put on mine) from such as Alpine, Infinity Kappas, Focal, or Memphis Audio. Then feed these with an appropriately spec'd amp. Now, because I'm suggesting 2 amps, I would suggest you have a 1-farad capacitor in line from battery to the sub's amp. This will take the blunt of the bass hit rather than your battery/ alternator. The amp for the high/ mids doesn't require a capacitor. I would also HIGHLY recommend doing some sound deadening like I did on this car's door panels. It will make a huge difference not just driving around but also for the sound quality of your audio system. Check my Mk6 playlist I think it's right after this video when I did the speakers and sound deadening. Highly recommend it as a "while you're in there" item to do. Good luck!

Thanks and glad it was helpful! The unit has been working great for us! Yes it has multiple colors for the buttons. Ive used it in CarPlay for music, calls, and messages. Ive never attempted to use Siri in the car (I rarely use it at all), but I would assume it would work just like normal

To me it wasn’t too much trouble. Just an annoyance that i had to do it at all so I was cranky. No reason why not to check Amazon or eBay. I just happened to have found the majority of I wanted from Crutchfield.

Should be similar if not the same! Just be sure to take note of your GTI’s sound system so you can get the correct PnP harness for it

Difficult to diag without the car being in front of me. But what I would check is first the audio settings on the HU. Are you using an external amp or feeding the speakers directly from the HU?

@turbospool I'm not using any amp. All the settings seem normal, and I have tried resetting it.

@@GodofMushrooms did you check that the fuse in the back of the HU isn't blown? I forgot now if that fuse is for incoming or outgoing voltage. If the fuse is good, I would recommend you contact the vendor you bought the headunit from and see what they want you to check. You have have a faulty internal amp/ mosfet and could get it replaced by warranty.

@turbospool I'll check the fuse, but I took the head unit out of another car, and it was working fine. I found a video expalining how to install it from a company that makes a different harness than the one i have, so im going to try getting that harness and seeing if that works. I get you. But thats what had me like wtf? The remote signal to turn on the headunit is on the additional steering wheel control harness they sell as optional. When in reality for this to be plug n play, that harness would be required. Unless you do a rig like i had to do from the fuse box. Anddddd you’re totally right that needs a fuse lol. A fuse tap would have been the best choice for that- I just had none at the time of install lol. Thanks!

I thought about that one! Looks great and definitely looks more OE+ than any other aftermarket unit. But the random software glitches with the Android OS mentioned among the reviews is ultimately what turned me away from it.

@@turbospool they running qnix os . A Visteon rcd 340 is original vw unit for the Chinese market. Bmw mersedes vw and most of the us car manufacturers use a qnix for all multimedia systems as well.
