I used the ME 70 for about 4-5 years and LOVED IT!!! I never had the chance to try the ME 80 and the ME 90 was my latest purchase. What I love about it is that it has all the sounds we all love from the ME 70 and also, the EQ is VERY responsive and sensitive! If you know how to EQ a good tone, it’s a WONDERFUL unit! It’s like an amp, not 10000000000 amps and effects, you have what you need and it’s more than enough!

Excellent review!... but... unless I missed it, no mention was made of the extra amp models and effects available when editing with BTS under the type "Selectable". I bought the ME-90 immediately it was released, and well done Boss! Talk about hitting the Bullseye! There are quite a few more amps and effects available when you use the PC editor. These extra amps etc are not selectable from the front panel (manual mode) but can be used in any patches you create (memory mode).

Also question for you for patch/preset changes. Do the knobs move to the proper positions on their own every time you change presets/patches? Or does the device just change the settings internally and bypass the knob settings once the preset/patch is loaded? Just something i've been wondering.
@emsrebel

Once you save a patch with the desired levels, they are recalled to those parameters when you select the preset. If you go to change a value, you can see the numeric value you saved as reference for the changes being made.

I figured out what needs to be done to get these better sounds, there are too many levels and gain stages and it gets nasty sounding if they are up higher. Use the X crunch , gain 3/4, (level no more than half way, ) you need to turn on the eq /fx 2 always. It’s the” post” eq . Lower that level below half , now you have a cleaner headroom . Now use the main output at its highest range , 3/4 or more , this will balance the gain stages . Add a Ts od, if needed for metal , gain off, level below half , tone past half . Keep both eqs knobs moderate , boost or cut. This is for di, line to pa. Also raise the gate to 50.

Have you got it? If so, are the sounds really better than the old ones? In all these videos I'm kinda disappointed with the gain sounds, I don't know if they're all using the wrong output setting or what could be wrong. This here is one of the best ...and it still doesn't sound really good to me.

Yes, it was worth the wait, and, it does just what I wanted it to do. I wanted something that was simple and easy to use. I use it as a simple set of stomp boxes. The F/X loop is a pleasant addition. Worth the wait and worth the money. I like it because I don't have to scroll through a lot menus to get the sounds that I want.

Got mine 2 weeks ago, and it's been a real pain. I wanted to use it as a simple set of pedals, but every time I turn the unit off all my manual setting are lost. I have to manually turn the knobs on each effect to get the effects to work, they are never correct, and require complete re-setting. Have you experienced this problem?
@sosmooth7

After you select the manual settings that you must hit 'write' to save them, if not the ME90 will not automatically save them, and you will lose them every time you turn the F/X board off.@@MortandHarley

I had sold my ME-80 and regretted it. Before this came out I was hoping Boss would upgrade the ME to have all the new AIRD models. Curious why they didn't continue the 00 theme by calling it the ME-100? Anyway, I got impatient and got a used POD Go. All (well, most) of the Helix models for a much more reasonable price! Honestly, there isn't a bad modeler on the market these days. I will probably pick one of these up eventually as I'm replacing my tube amps. Hard to justify them anymore!
@TheDilligan
@TheDilligan Жыл бұрын
Honestly the Pod Go is great and gives you a little more freedom than the Me-90. Like you could use two overdrives if you wanted. Also, on the Pod Go, did you know you can export a preset on your computer, open the preset in notepad, remove the Amp, Cab, and FX loop from the code, save it and import it back into the pod, and then you have extra effects blocks and DSP. If you fill them all out, it does get buggy because the unit does run out of dsp without warning when you do this.. But it will totally work for adding like one extra effect when you are playing into an amp and don't need an amp sim.
@Nightwinflyer

For anyone who already owns this device: When you create patches and save them, do the knobs all move into place on their own once you load the saved patch? Or does the device simply save the knob settings, then bypasses how the knobs are currently set once your saved patch is selected? Hopefully this question made sense. I've been looking for videos just to see what happens when a saved preset is selected lol.

Same with me, hunting for videos on line on how to save presets in manual mode and then recall them during live. I've been able to create one user patch for manual mode but I'm still not sure how to create another one with the different effects? I just got it recently so I know I'll figure it out. I do like that nifty preset that Dan is playing at 02:20 but I did notice something; Only the Reverb and Mod pedals are lit up but in the button section only Pre-amp, Comp, Mod and delay are lit up, and it shows U! so it's a created preset. I'll ask Don about that sound and how he created it and saved it, especially since I got the ME 90 from Sweetwater.

Everything is available and sounding just very very nice. you can dial in some cool effect without menu so thats great. And you are not supposed to be scrolling and getting lost inside the menu. This is a really great device and i am looking forward to get one soon. I used for years the me 50 with a mesa boogie heartbreaker and that was really sounding good to me. My experience with multi-effects pedals is supported by this video. There are many effects that are “interesting” but really not usable. I have the feeling that manufacturers of these pedals value quantity over quality. As a result, users can only really take advantage of a fraction of the available options. That said, that fraction is still worth the investment vs. buying individual effects for those of us on a budget. But be warned, buy this or any multi-effects pedal and you will only use a fraction of the available effects as the rest are “interesting” but not practical.

@robbeygreene6962 Headrush is really cool. It just isn't as compact as the Boss Me. Having a large pedal board defeats the purpose of having a multieffect pedal. Also it is desirable to have a few amps to really get full advantage of the Head Rush. I tend to use it only for specific noise experimental projects only with synths.

The amp modeling portion isn’t going to sound great when run into a guitar amp so you’ll probably leave that section bypassed, but the rest of the effects will work great. Thanks for your interest! Hi, Adrian! Thanks for your question, it’s a totally valid one. The BOSS ME-90 does have reverb as an effect along with several other types. The effects are used individually as well as combined. Please see the walkthrough videos on our site to get an overview of the product: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ME90--boss-me-90-guitar-multi-effects-pedal Please contact us direct with other questions as you have them! Hi, Rodrigo. The ME90 doesn’t have an aux input but if you add the Boss Bluetooth Adapter, you’d be able to stream music into it for practice purposes. Thanks for your interest! Charlie Davis, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1320, charlie_davis@sweetwater.com

Is it good for bass?
@sweetwater
@sweetwater 10 ай бұрын
Hi, EJ! Thanks for your question. There’s nothing that prevents the use of the ME-90 on bass. As with any new effects unit, it’s a good practice to compare it against your dry tone. If you like your original tone, then the effects are there to enhance, not completely change. There’s no such thing as an effect that is only good on “x” instrument. It’s really up to the player and their application. Please contact us direct with other questions as you have them! I bought this from Sweetwater, was working great and now it makes absolutely no sound at all but cuts on and works like everything is normal... Any ideas on how to get it making sound again? I have reset it and of course all the volume knobs work and am running it through a Katana as a speaker. Doesnt even make sound when I use headphones too!

wish it was designed to where I could have a global compression & reverb NOT assigned to a block (always on) & have those two blocks for the other block FX optons, but hey, cant have everything. sounds great laid out nicely otherwise.

I bought this thing hoping for a simple unit to take to rehearsals blah blah blah. I think it's a piece of garbage. It's too much of a compromise between all the sounds that you can get. Plus the digital Distortion sounds like garbage. The amp modeling section sounds terrible! None of those amp models sound any good and I have never ever used them. Same with the EQ section. I'm only sorry I waited too long to send it back to sweetwater. I mean Don makes the saying sound amazing here but don't be fooled because when you get it it's not going to sound anything like this.
