I've had a RC505 for nearly 4 years now. You have shown me that I'm barely using it to the potential it has. Up until now I've been using the effects on the output. I didn't even look on the other side to see that there are effects for the input. I also didn't know that it's an audio interface as well. I'm away from my studio atm but when I get back there are quite a few things I'm going to try with mine. I was going to get a SP404 to put effects on my samples before I sequence them in my MPC2000XL but I have a feeling that the RC505 will do the job that I want the SP404 to do. Thanks for the video and keep up the great work. Subbed.

Im a guitar player / keyboard player and I use the 505. It is invaluable and I actually prefer using it vs floor loopers. I like having all the controls right in front of me.

Does it have a metronome so you can make sure your loops will fit your song. I am thinking of using it in a live performance but precording a loop and then playing the loop in the middle of the song (so I can do other stuff)

@@darrinsiberia yes it has an internal drum machine that among its patterns has several metronome patterns (added to the pre-record or pre-play clicks that you also can activate).

Good for everyone to know that it is possible to use this as a floor pedal using your toe. I play the cello (sitting down mostly) and after trying I didn’t like the feel of the rc300 since my feet are always bare while needing to access more features on the pedal. It’s great I highly recommend other cellist to try it out

It took me two years to find the MKII station. It just wasn't available anywhere. I finally got one this Christmas and cannot wait to see what I can do with it. It came with European outlet plug so I haven't been able to use it yet since I am in the USA. I just picked up the US adapter yesterday. I'm pretty pumped.

You could try the basic pedal and go from there, the basic pedal just has one loop, and people make decent music just with that.

Nice, Mixcraft is my DAW for most things. I was all set to pre-order the MKII, but after watching a few of your vids I don't know if I want to wait or if I want to just grab the current version. As a newbie I probably won't be missing too many new features of the MKII.

Yes the SM8 is the best mic to get. They don't call it the industry standard for nothing.

N'étant pas un grand beatboxer, mais un accro à la musique, j'essaye de bien me renseigner avant, pour ne pas non plus acheter un truc que je vais jamais utiliser donc tes vidéos aident beaucoup ! Mais je pense quand même que je vais me laisser tenter, ça fait des années et des années que je suis la communauté beatbox et ce sont les battles de loop que je kiff le plus !! Il reste plus qu'à valider mon panier sur Thomann :) D'ailleurs est ce que t'as un code promo ou un lien affilié peut être ? Prend soin de toi !

I use mine by creating the tracks in logic Pro, then mixing down the part i need, pretty much the drums, bass and and atmospheric samples i use. I load the wav file into the first pad on the 505 and jam along to that with my synths in a live situation. My problem is that when the track finishes (3 - 5 minutes long), it starts up again, so i have to hit the stop button pretty quick. This doesn't happen on all of the tracks, i have a wav file in each pad. The first three stop and don't start again but the last two do. It's obvious there's a setting i'm missing that the first three track have but the last two don't. Cam you advise please. Ps; i call the start buttons from 1 - 5 pads, sorry for any confusion. I love the effects and options this looper has. I make music with synths, drum machines and guitars. Would anyone recommend this or one of the other Boss loopers. Would this be more capable than the others with an added foot switch?

Thanks for this review! I've had mine for a week now and love the functionality! My only problem is the overall sound quality seems harsh and shrill. Might this be due to the 16 bit audio vs 24 or 32? Or some other reason? I wish I could get past this issue but all I hear are irritating frequencies as I'm recording in and hearing back.

Yes it needs to be plugged to work it doesn't work on batery and no you don't need an MPC. ;)

Hi BreZ. Many thx for your vids ....... as I need to get a mic too ..... would having a ‘switched’ SM58. Be advantageous when using the 505 ? I see you use the ( non switched) Senheiser .....so is it just a matter of learning to use the 505 differently ........ or would you recommend ‘switched’ if given the choice ??? Thx for any feedback. Hey! Thanks for this video! I ordered mine a few weeks ago (it was out of stock so I have to wait) and i'm so excited to get it! I have a question though. When you don't have your headphones plugged in, does the sound play out of a speaker? Or do you need to plug an amp/speaker into it? Thanks.

Hi ! When not using speakers you need to plug it to an amp/speaker yes. ;). There is no built-in speakers.

If you use pad 1 and start with a sound and add more sounds on pad 1 can I use only the full overall sound on pad 1 or can I go to say the first loop on pad1 before I overdub Ed with more loops?

@@nitnickers yes I did, happy with it, also bought the arturia minifreak synthesizer and combine it with handpan, jaw harp and soon to get my didgeridoo back. The looper is great, need some time to learn the settings about measures, quantizing and so on, but has a great potential, and the effects are also amazing.

I can see this video being a legit help for people who aren´t sure yet if the 505 is what they want. So good job on that one! And while we´re at it, I´m gonna abuse the opportunity for a question of mine, because I have realised while messing around with my 505 that it will give me no output signal when singing/beatboxing into the mic, not even when I record something, it will only start outputting a signal when I finished recording something and let the track play. Which makes it a bit of a pain to experiment with stuff because I will never get any feedback when doing something with effects expect if I record it and hear the result, there is bascially no chance to hear the change "live", I can only do apply settings-record-listen, change settings-record-listen, change settings-record-listen... Any idea how to solve that or what I might be doing wrong in general? :)

Depends what your intentions are. I think if you just want to get started with looping, finding a RC505 for 300 euro in second hand is a pretty good idea. If your aim is to immediately try hard to enter battles, wait for the MK2
