Good luck with yours! I don't know what's happening with mine or what I'm doing to it, but it is growing MASSIVELY! I can definitely see how it is so invasive when planted out doors. Yikes! Soooo many blossoms to pick up lol

Hello from Bremerton! Recent subscriber here. I l discovered you last month and binge-watched all your videos. They are so informative! It’s great finding someone that can relate to the conditions we experience in the PNW! I squealed with delight when I saw your newest is all about Ardisia, since you’ve only mentioned it a briefly a few times in other videos. I picked up a 4” pot a couple of weeks ago from our local Freddy’s. All the label said is Ardisia... I agree completely that KZfaq has nothing helpful about this plant. So this video couldn’t have come at a better time for me! I’ll have to wait until next year to see the flowers or berries since my plant is super young. Thanks for the heads-up about the huge mess it makes!! I’ll be prepared.

Hi!!! I am always happy to connect with people from this area! Thank you so much for enjoying my videos! I love plants so much, but I don't know anyone who likes them as much (I need to make new friends lol). I frequent the Freddy's in Renton and they used to have a cute little indoor garden center that they no longer have and used to find plants there too!!! Glad you got ahold of one! This plant grows like crazy and will continue to grow even in the winter! It's hard to find indoor plants in our area, right?? I watch all these "come shopping with me" vids in LA and they have soooooo many cool plants for cheap! I've yet to see a swiss cheese plant! Well with the exception of the pricier plant shops... anyway, so glad to connect with a fellow PNW'er!!!

Botanibabies ! I feel ya, sis!! I haven’t yet met anyone either who shares the same love for plants as I do! Can we be friends? lol Before they remodeled our local Freddy’s a couple years back it had a tiny gardening section. They gave us a big garden center plus a little floral department that carries the smaller plants and such. Would you believe during the summer they had a few 10” pots of Monstera on clearance for $19.99?! I didn’t get one cuz they were super sad looking and on their last legs. But I’m really kicking myself for not snagging one though. I could’ve rescued it and nursed it back to health! Now that I know they stock them, I’ll keep an eye out during spring and summer...

@@crystal_roy Absolutely let's be friends!!! lol That is a steal for monsteras, but when they're not looking too hot, I'm always concerned about whatever disease it has spreading to my other plants, but I suppose of it was quarantined until it was nursed back to health that would be awesome! I'm looking forward to the spring - I'm trying to not buy any plants until I can get rid of a few! ...but they are sooooo hard to part with after you put in all that effort to get it to root and then grow lol

That is so weird that I am not getting notification of most of my comments (sorry I missed this!). Yeah, just hang onto your plant as long as it's not totally dead. It might come back this summer!! Mine has started to bloom and am tempted to take a clipping... but i'm scared, so I might wait lol

Success! I live in the NE USA and propagated this plant in water by cuttings. I used 4 inch cuttings never changed the water.(only left 3-4 leaves)an roots appeared about 3 weeks later. I planted 1 in soil and continued my usual watering of once a week. I keep the same watering schedule all year around because I have 5 south facing windows in my Apt lol. Give it a try, the mother plant's leaves got fuller after the trim.

Hi Holly!! The shape it has taken is cool now that you mention it! If I had to compare this plant to its animal equivalent, it would have to be a parakeet. It constantly sheds and drops a ton of leaves/flowers lol. Hope you find one - check out Lowes! They sometimes have some unique finds :)!

Strange. I have the same plant but looks way different. Mine is single stem, very slow growing, it's only 1 & 1/2 feet but gives around 200 berries (big bunches with around 20 berries each). Looks really beautiful ❤️

Hi from the Philippines! Love your Coral Ardisia plant. I also brought mine few months ago,around January this year and repotted it. It has also produced red berries and some had already fallen off. What I noticed though,there was some new growth around the perimeter of the plant where the seeds or berries fell upon. I think and conclude that you can propagate it from seeds. However,I wasn't successful making it grow when I transplanted it in another pot. I think and noticed that it doesn't like too much water. Especially now that it is rainy season here. Hopefully,I can successful grow and propagate some when my next batch of berries turns red or matures then,il just leave them fall and germinate until they're ready to be transplanted. Looking forward to your next video. 😊
@Botanibabies
@Botanibabies 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gina!! Yes, I bet you can propagate the seeds, however I haven't had the desire to try since I have kind of been annoyed with this plant LOL. The cute and pretty little flowers dry up so quickly and then leave a mess in my living room that I constantly have to vacuum :). I would caution keeping this as an indoor plant, because I've read lots of articles of people in Florida (and places like the Philippines with a more warm, tropical climate) complaining about how invasive this plant is. It might take over your yard! Thank you so much for the note. My parents are from the Philippines! :)

I'd never heard of this plant, so of course I had to look it up. I'm surprised it dropped leaves after you repotted it since it's notoriously hard to kill. It probably gets too cold for it to survive outside year round in your climate since it seems to thrive in the southern states - all of them apparently, it started in FL and has traveled across the south all the way to TX! Where did you find this plant?
@Botanibabies
@Botanibabies 4 жыл бұрын
I know right?! I was shocked too since it was growing so rapidly. Another think I was thinking was that it was conserving its energy to grow the roots since the pot was significantly bigger than its original pot. I did see a lot of the stems continue to grow, just the leaves kept dropping off :(. It's back in full force now lol! I actually got this at a Lowe's! This is the 2nd plant I got there that I wasn't expecting to find (the other is my hindu rope hoya for 16 bucks!). Hope you can find one!

Hi! I’m a year late to your video! I have had mine for 4 years and you are right there isnt hardly any info at all about this plant! I’ve watched your video a few times. I repotted mine and it did the same thing I don’t like the pot it’s in and I’m worried about it bc some leaves are turning yellow but I’m so afraid to touch since it’s fall. What soil do you use?
@Botanibabies
@Botanibabies 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lindsey, I just use regular potting soil from the big box stores (miracle grow, etc). I don’t custom mix the soil. Yes, I get yellowing leaves too, but that’s normal. Not sure I can advise on repotting since mine didn’t do well the only time I repotted mine ☹️. It’s doing wonderfully now though 😂. Good luck with yours!

Likely (becayse of the original habitat) plant will thrive in soil with a PH what is a little lower than normal potting soil. But I have a question too: about the pollination. How do you do that, indoors? Yourself?, with the thing - I donnot know the english word for it at the moment (where you paint with).
