Una obra cargada de sensaciones tiernas; la fluidez del abrazo que se da en un instante, sin pensar, simplemente amando en un ocaso cálido. Giovanni Bottesini (Crema, Lombardía, 22 de diciembre de 1821 - Parma, 7 de julio de 1889), fue un compositor italiano y uno de los primeros contrabajistas virtuosos de la época. Bottesini tocaba con un contrabajo de 3 cuerdas afinadas un tono arriba (afinación solista). Un curioso giro del destino produjo a este virtuoso del contrabajo del siglo XIX. A los catorce años, Bottesini había desarrollado sus talentos musicales como corista, violinista e intérprete del timbal. Su padre buscó un lugar para él en el Conservatorio de Milán, pero solo había dos vacantes: Fagot, y contrabajo. En cuestión de semanas preparó una audición que tuvo un gran éxito. Solo cuatro años después, en un tiempo relativamente corto para la época, obtuvo un premio de trescientos francos. El dinero financió la adquisición de un instrumento de Carlo Antonio Testore, y una carrera por todo el mundo como «el Paganini del contrabajo» comenzó.

Can you somebody help me please ? I play this concerto, just , can you somebody suggest fingering Bar no 40- 41 and 44-45 ,itis 2:02 minut and 2:12 ? I play it but it is still not good. So say me opinion about finngering on that place. Thanks

Any fingering you feel comfortable. It is just a kind of scale. I think the problem of fingerings is less important on double bass. On violin? Yes! It can make big difference! Violinists change positions not so often as we. One of the most difficult things to learn on double bass is just the fluency of changing the positions. Unfortunatly this topic I can not explain here. It is too large and quite complex. ... and surely many dedicated teachers will explain everything better then me.

For both of these sections I climb the D string, and descend on the G string. The only important fingering is the beginning of the descent (the strange sounding scale) until the trill-like motive 2/3 of the way through the phrase. I use the same finger pattern for the descent on both: 123 shift 12 shift 421242412 etc... Cheers :)

The sound is great, but the second movement is too fast , for me, in this Bottesini Rotaru is the best I have heard

More recently there is Mikyung Sung, who is often similar to Rotaru in interpretation. (Plus her brother Minje did a recent one with piano that is also good.)
