Mate,I have operated these trucks for 20 years and trust me they are the most uncomfortable things to drive,they have no real suspension (they do but it's for holding such weight and not comfort) the seat is the only suspension you get. If you drive into a hole that's a foot deep you will get thrown around the cabin even hit your head on the roof,that's if you don't have your seat belt on,and there are times you just jump in and go forgetting the belt.

I’ve worked for a Cat dealer since 1994. I spent many hours fixing and actually did quite a few rebuilds of these good old girls. Thanks for the memories this brings. Tranny oil is definitely not good. Too much water can ruin the clutch discs.
@amunderdog
@amunderdog 2 жыл бұрын
So where does that much water come from?
@Kinghauler2012
@Kinghauler2012 2 жыл бұрын
@@amunderdog hard to say. Could be moisture build up from years of sitting, maybe fill cap left open for a few months, top cover gasket gone and winter snow melts in spring gets into case. Ive seen plenty of dozer winches full of milky oil and not due to sinking in water but just top cover gaskets are shot and water migrates in. It doesn’t take a lot of water to cloud oil, the problem is, lots of water will effect any clutch packs that have friction discs made from cellulose based material vs rubber. Water causes them to swell so when you think the clutch pack is not engaged it’s actually still rubbing and contacting. Typically first gear is a rubber based disc and other are more water sensitive.

Amazing - not a single gasket or hydraulic leak on the whole thing!!!!!! Here in Aus we would run a CEM engine flush to clear the buildup around the rings, a very good chance that would fix the blowby. As always you are very thorough and accurate with going over your equipment! you apply the correct level of maintenance and attention to something based on what it's going to be used for and its practical value. In other words, you didn't pull that engine and fix everything on that haul truck. You did what was smart and correct investment to get the work you need done! Most people either drive it until it drops without enough maintenance or they rebuild everything - Money and time is wasted in both cases!

20:30 I felt that one.. and boy that does not look seem like something you want to see. Look like something from the bathroom just minus everything going all over the place.

I really like how you keep things clean while working on your equipment, and how your shop and yard looks. One of the better looking redneck amusement parks I have seen.

I'm a gold prospector so I'll definitely be checking that channel out and subscribing👍 my friends used to work at a local tyre garage and they would repair any tyre. I used to go out and get the wheels with them. Often earth movers. When they got them back they would cut new treads into them and I had a go. It's not hard to do so maybe give it a go and save yourself a fortune. Obviously the perished ones you will have to replace. It's quite therapeutic cutting them.

Interesting watching the maintenance on the ol' girl. Sounds good for being tired. Got to watch a crew a few years ago doing roadside maintenance on one of the big belly scraper earth movers - for some reason, they decided to flop it on it's side...
