I have over four decades of riding experience on two wheelers. From dirt track racing to road racing to touring. I've owned, and still own, more motorcycles than you can imagine. I recently bought my first trike. I was leaning towards a Harley Davidson Tri-Glide, but they are too expensive, even for a used one. And besides, I am not that broken down yet to ride a slower version of a three wheeler. I bought a used 2022 Ryker Rally with only forty-one miles on it. The previous owner added many Can Am OEM accessories before he sold it to a dealership in Carol Stream, Illinois. His health prevented him from riding it with his wife like he planned. Poor guy. Riding a three wheeler is a whole new experience for me than riding any two-wheeler. I'm looking into the Can Am riding course for myself and my wife. You never know what you can teach an old dog to do.

Great lessons and tips. Here’s what I bought for much needed accessories: 1st, and I feel is the most important, rally comes with a horrible bleeting Horn. Spyderpops sells for $29 “The really loud Horn”! It’s louder than my car and has already saved my life. The modulation headlights are also helpful. Some states they’re illegal but I’d rather pay a ticket than get a free helicopter ride. (If I’m lucky)! Also got gas cap lock, glovebox lock and parking lock. These should not be aftermarket but standard. Can am makes their big money on doodads and I love independent Companies that will sell better for less! I wish I had known about the rear double side bags light kit/ brake that sling mod sells, since storage and visibility is not the best. I wish I would have known about it before I bought single bag. $799. But with the lights, bar, Sloan hard box probably spent close to that not getting what I ultimately need. To me sling pop is the best out of the top 3: slingpop, LaMonster and sling mod. Also got front fog lights. One more thing, I just got front turn signals for rear (mounted on front two axels). Low profile makes it difficult to see and also got storage bag that goes behind the gas tank. I got one from can am that’s a pain and magnets don’t really hold. I’d like to throw it in the ocean! Safe riding, Jake

Great video definitely solid points and I've experienced the same thing. #1 Limitations is know your limitations AND LEARN THE RYKERS. I've found "ya I can do this.. Nope" Had a couple of close calls but remained on the road to finish the ride. And don't showboat no matter what's going on around you such as side shows. That is trouble that could cost you a hell of a lot of money or worse your life or someone else's.

Great vlog, topic, and advice! Only things I'd add, is to make sure your dealership performs a laser alignment before you pick up your Ryker. If you do buy extra parts (max mount, shad bag and mount, hand guards, etc.), try to avoid having the dealer install. They typically charge a fortune. And if you're interested, look for Spyder/Ryker/riding clubs in your area :) Keep up the awesome vlogs!

Been looking at these 3 wheelers. Rode 2 wheels for about 40+ years. Had a major stroke a few years ago that robbed me of most of my balance. Thought my motorcycle days were over until I saw these!! My wife and I use to ride quite a lot over the years. Had a std. Valkyrie and rode with my wife’s cousin and her Hubbya lot. He has a large Ultra Classic Harley. Thinking about a Spyder touring model, I think the bigger bike might be more comfortable for 2 adults. We’re not big heavyweights but the 1330 motor might be better for us. Im gonna start looking for this next season. It gets pretty cold here in Chicagoland is the winter. Been ridding many years but not a fan of the cold weather! LOL!!!

Man, watching you has me about a millisecond from buying one. I'm looking into the Spyder F3-T. I have not ridden in 30 years. I started out with a 1969 2-stroke Yamaha DSC6 and then graduated to a Honda CB750 K model. I could not go back to a two-wheel so a three-wheel looks like the best option. Your advice on the course is a great idea. I will do that because I need to learn about three-wheeling. I still have and pay for my motorcycle endorsement. I hope I don't have to repeat a driver's test. Thanks, for posting the video.

@@giovannam925 My first bike is all electric. It's also fully automatic Zero FX ZF6.5 I purchased last 2019 in April. I JUST graduated out of a "refresher" motorcycle course after 17 years of not riding (and still rusty) . Maybe waaaay more cautious as I aged. My Zero's weight is 297 lbs. I'm whipped around like a pea in a bell in windier conditions. I just purchased my Ryker 900 and absolutely feel safer in the elements. With its' weight being substantially more @ 616 lbs, I'm not whipped around nearly as much. I kept my Zero so I don't lose the concept of riding 2 wheels. It's my first love, but my Ryker cradles me and I feel a little more stable on it. By the way....I love to see other women riding. I don't see too much of it, but when I do, I LOVE it! My 'training course' was picking up a used Ryker 600 about an hour before dark, and riding it almost a hundred miles home. Obviously I stayed off the freeways and wound my way through rural ways, twisty mountain roads and city streets. Kind of a hairy way to learn and not one I necessarily recommend, but it worked for me.... And by the way, California is one of only three or four states that allow you to drive three wheelers with just a standard class C driver's license. No motorcycle or three wheel endorsement needed....

What's up, Khalil! Yeah, four years late to the conversation but better late than never right? Of all the amazing tips you shared across your many videos, there were a couple things you said that really stuck with me. One was buying an older model. I see that there are crazy discounts available for previous year models. The other thing you talked on was about the size of the rider. I'm a big dude and as such after hearing some of the things you said, I think if I went the Ryker route, the rally would be best for it's better suspension. I'd love to get a Spyder but, man, those things are pricy. However that does bring me back to your tip about buying an older model. All in all my heart is set on a Ryker Rally... for now. I plan to save up for a bike and as I do, I'll give the Spyder vs Ryker thing a lot of thought. For now I do dig the Ryker a lot. Thank you so much for all of the tips you share.

@3WheelKhalil

In all honesty, as far as maintenance for the Ryker goes, I am still a beginner myself. For me, I ride my Ryker almost everyday so battery charge is not an issue, but for those who store for longer times you will want to pick up a battery tender or similar. It attaches to the battery and allows you to keep the battery charged while not in use. As I perform more maintenance on my bike, you will be sure to see it here. One recommendation is to pick up some plastic pry tools off of amazon as most of the bike is comprised of plastic parts. They will come in handy.

I know the rally has different power but if you could please advise how to control the ryker a bit better on high speed that would be much appreciated

@@miashirazi5870 I know the feeling and it's not a great one. One thing I would say to do if you haven't already done so, is try bringing the handlebars closer. You don''t want your arms fully extended, you want a little bend in your arms. I find that makes highway rides a lot more comfortable for me and helps me not get flung around.

What your advice in buying the rally over the standard 900. I have watch video making good argument about the money that one would spend on the rally can use to get better shocks on the standard 900. What's your take??
@3WheelKhalil
@3WheelKhalil 4 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I think it is a very valid argument. I purchased my Rally used with only a few hundred miles on it. So the price came out to be the same price as a brand new 900. I think I may still end up spending for the Elka shocks (at least in the rear since I'm a heavier guy), so I can see their point. I also like Rally mode though. It is a tough choice for sure. If you are questioning wanting any of the accessories that the Rally comes with, I would just go with the 900 and upgrade it over time. As I'm still doing that with my Rally, it's still not perfect out of the box. So take that extra cash and spend it on upgrades that you'll know you want. Unless you get a smoking deal like I did haha.

@3WheelKhalil
@3WheelKhalil 3 жыл бұрын
The biggest argument for boots on a Ryker or Spyder is that the protection is far superior if you get into an accident. A lot less likely to crush your ankle between parts. Usually sneakers will also just fly off immediately during impact, so you can easily tear your feet up. I say no need to go overboard and get knee high motorcycle boots, but a pair of more casual motorcycle boots with crush protection and is a must for me.

@wakkywabbit5446
@wakkywabbit5446 4 жыл бұрын
Smooth, you need the 900 or larger if you're gonna be putting the bike under stress. You're adding a lot of weight and wind resistance. If you're gonna be starting and stopping a lot, riding in hilly or mountainous areas, pulling a trailer or additional weight, if you plan on aggressive driving (fast starts from a standstill, weaving in-n-out of traffic, passing), etc., that takes power. If you're gonna be doing mostly flats streets, slow accelerations, low additional weight (no more than the max weight limit), etc., lower power can tolerate that. A large, heavy man shouldn't be riding a Shetland pony. He needs a cold blood, like a Clydesdale. That pony may last a mile or two but eventually he's gonna collapse.

Good job cuz. I bought mine before I ever rode one. This video would have helped. I switched to 3 vs 2 because of incompetent doctors and a knee replacement but this was the silver lining. This bike can be ridin until I’m 100. I’m 72 now. It so easy. It a joy day one. I started riding when I was 14 on a bike made myself. I would never ride my Kaw Vulcan as much as I ride this. So for all you old farts, this it it. Get off your FFA, GET DOWN TO THE DEALER, SIT ON IT.Rykers are cool. They are like choppers for old men and women. I went black on black on black. That's pretty amazing that you've been riding one way or another since 14. I haven't been into riding for long, but the Ryker inspired me to learn more and now I'm also getting into a little 2-wheeled riding on the side. Always been into cars and motors, and I'm finding out that there aren't many better ways to really get familiar with the mechanical workings of a vehicle than the to sit right next to that engine and ride.
