As climbers, we can find stretching our climbing comfort zone a little intimidating but trying boulders that are way too hard for us can be one of the best ways to progress in our bouldering skill and strength. As we progress in our climbing journey, we learn valuable lessons from more and more demanding boulders and moves about trying hard, mindset and the skill and precision required to perform at our strongest. Nathan and Emil shared a session at The Climbing Hangar in Reading where the focus was on trying boulders that were right at the limit of Nathan's ability. Emil gave Nathan some tips and advice for pushing his limits and learning from failure.
We also filmed a second video where Emil coached Hannah on some dynamic movement techniques for efficient climbing: • Teaching a Static clim...

WOW EMIL can explain climbing REALLY GOOD. i have watched tons of climbing vids with explanations, but these ones really got to me! far better explanation than a lot of super super high level worldcupclimbers could give! sad thing im completely destroyed from my last session and need to wait a proper day, but im so psyched to incorporate these tips. for example i never heard someone say you should relax after taking a swing but before you set your foot. SOOO GOOD

Hi, Hannah, this video came at just the right time for me, to motivate myself to try harder and push my level. Emil is really excellent at analysing the technical and mental aspect of "trying hard" rather than "trying to try hard". Great job by yourself with the camera work. Hey Hannah, I just wanted to let you know that I just started working at my local gym now, and I'm pretty certain your videos (amongst a few other channels I follow) had a huge impact on that decission. Now I just need to get back to some form of regular bouldering, and I'll be back in shape in no time :) It's such a welcoming atmosphere and a joy to be there, be it as a job or in a sesh. And congrats on the Emil collab!

Lovely to see two of my favorite youtubers together! I think "deadpointing" with the foot in a coordination-style it's a super underrated skill! Can save a lot of energy but we usually don't train eye-foot coordination that much in climbing! Very nice video! Also, super interesting that you Emil have this over-analytical side that hinders performance during competitions. I would never have guessed!

I'm not the best person to ask about not getting injured, as it seems I often am, but listening to your body when it's tired and fuelling properly are always the first things I try and keep consistent, followed by a session specific warm up and a decent level of consistency in pre-hab and maintenance so that I'm not asking too much of my body when it's not used to it!
