I use an old Chev truck hood as a skid for moving brush, logs, and anything heavy. Not something people tend to have laying around I realize. Thanks for including us in the guest cabin build. Still one of my favorite channels!

I built my first cabin 40 yrs ago, and have lived long enough to see and fix the errors of my ways. There's no shame in putting in a cement post...lol! And put a green treated pad between the rock and your first log. points of contact will attract moisture and rot. As a retired carpenter, I love fan lasers. Looking Good, Rock on....!!

It's only June 8th and I'm already done with the hot and humid for the summer...next 3+ months are going to be an eternity. Great to see videos from the spring trip...wish I could've made it up there for that, but I'm still looking for my RV; I've actually had a change of plans about 6 weeks ago and have decided I'm going to pull a trailer with my car instead of buying a motorhome, so I've gone back to square one (well, maybe 1 and a half). I'll be there in September one way or another...take care and be safe.

Out here they call those two-man rocks. 160 lbs. per cubic foot, but I guess you already knew that! Nice work getting them all moved and positioned with basic tools and some ingenuity!

Still looks like hard work even when you use the levers and the winch 😅 If u rolled out a sheet of plastic infront of the boulders before you winch them would that help to slide them along easier 🤔 Good luck for the build from North East England

All your hard-won corner stones rolling reluctantly into place, but as you said Martin in the end no need for Doan's pills. At least your labor with those four boulders was not in vane like Sisyphus endless task.You should slip a time capsule under one for the next generation of Northwoodsmen to eventually discover. Imagine if they uncovered one of those famous Vonnie's pies still waiting to be shared with a Camp robber jay. Great job Marty.

So is this cabin going to be totally on your property? I see the existing cabin is split by property lines. Which direction from the existing cabin will it be? The hardest part the corner stones. Can't wait to see the build.

If that were me I'd probably just look at the boulder and say we'll looks like the cabin will be built here.

Each of those large boulders had one stable position such that if you placed them like that they would stay, gravity would work for you. But you went to great effort to place each one in their least stable position and then weakly propped them up. I think you need to reconsider this.

Maybe use a manual come along instead of an electric winch? My battery electric winch can only under full load for about one minute, then needs several minutes for a rest. The come along doesn’t care…

Are you planning on a rock foundation to the height of the first log? Or, will that be floor level with a crawl space under?
