Unleashing the "monster" disaster on 1960s Tokyo in SimCity for the Super Nintendo. Released: 1991
Making a city and destroying it with disasters was always my favorite thing to do in SimCity as a kid. There are other disasters as well like tornados, floods, plane crashes, earthquakes and a few more.
I suppose they call the monster Bowser instead of Godzilla because it's a Nintendo product and to avoid copyright but that's basically what it is. The city in this video is from the Tokyo scenario.
I'm kind of impressed how long Bowser raged, usually he gets in the water and leaves in about half as much time. As you can see he will eventually just vanish even if he doesn't reach the edge of the map. His pathing seems completely random, every time I do it he does something different.
SimCity is so much more than just disasters though. The music is simply amazing and the gameplay is addicting. There is a practice and scenario mode and like 1000 different map seeds to start your city on as well. It moves a little slow but frankly I'm impressed it works this well on the SNES period. Extremely nostalgic for me.
Do you have any memories of this game? Please share in the comments below, I love reading that stuff.
Thanks for watching!
