Box 540 BBC with a Little Blower Surge

By now you have all guessed that this surging beast is going into the Boxvette. This is Blown 540 Big Block with a 14-71 Blower on it. What do you think of Boxvette's new exhaust system? It is a beauty. We will post a video of the install after we put this monster into the car. Enjoy some Saturday evening Blower Surge. 😊

I tuned my blower surge completely out. It's a lot easier to stage the car without it. Balanced the carbs, reduced the IFR's and leaned the idle mixture along with locking out the timing. It idles at 1000rpm with no surge. If I want the surge back (why would you?), I can open each mixture screw about an 1/8 turn.

Yes, we prefer to keep it on the rich side but yes we could lean it out to eliminate the surge.

I wonder if - given the advancement of EFI systems - that you couldn’t program The Blower Surge into a NA engine ?? Thoughts ???

They are Profiler 23 degree heads. Horsepower we expect 2000.00. We are not going to dyno it yet.

What causes the surge?? And can a blower motor idle without the surge?

Yes, it can idle without the surge. We could adjust the tune. Some engines have more surge than others due to the combination.

It runs on E85 on the street and alcohol at the track.
