My OO gauge Box File Layout 'Caran Leisg' is very much a work in progress. The track is laid and the boxes cut. I take you through what I've done so far, what the plans are, and then we have a running session to demonstrate the operating potential of such a small and simple layout.
My priority is to have a layout that offers operational interest and smooth, stall-free running. This is EXTREMELY challenging in a box file with Setrack points, and I sometimes wish I'd gone for a baseboard and electrofrog points.
However, I am working on getting the best from this layout, and in this video we look at the option of a home-made feedback controller which controls old split-chassis Mainline J72s beautifully.
Therefore it's now become a project to highlight how you can make an operationally interesting, reliable, and portable layout on a budget.
As you can see, there is still a LONG way to go.
