Soviet boxing school teaching was to clench the fist at the end of the punch. Is it correct or is there any better way?

Your videos are excellent. I really like that you explain the biomechanics of boxing. This is how sports training should be

Makes more sense than the arguments for a clenched fist only at the end of a strike

Awesome!! I had always disliked clenching right before impact. I personally never saw any difference whether I clenched. In fact I always felt that I hit harder. Everything he said is true.

So you keep forearm and fist clenched whole fight, also what fastest way to be able to do this without getting fatigued

Ive always been told to grab towards the end of the punch, but Lately before even seeing this video I figured that its only good for jabbing and loaded straights.

Hey i need help understanding, he says never rotate the fist relative to the forearm. Does he mean to only rotate the fist as a result of shoulder rotation? What does he mean when he mentions elbow extension!
@lucasbuvinic2402 жыл бұрын
I didn't get the part about elbow extension but yes, your wrist should rotate as a result of the shoulder rotation
@betrzy2 жыл бұрын
you rotate whole arm as a resoult of shoulder rotation. But your fist is allways in the same position to your forearm

It would be nice to have an option in the video to switch to original language. I learned Russian in my younghood and would still understand a lot.

Why is your forearm and wrist not straight when you punch? It looks like you could break your wrist if you punch hard? Please help to clarify? Ps I am big fan of your work. 🙂

If your wrist is perfectly straight, like it would be when bench pressing, then the alignment is wrong. Basically, a perfectly straight wrist doesn’t align the forearm bones with the bones of the knuckle. A slight downward bend ensures perfect transfer of force. Your wrist won’t buckle in this position. Perfectly straight, it will buckle upwards with enough force. In this position, with the thumb muscles engaged, it won’t buckle downwards even with a missed shot. Here’s some videos about it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mpioY9OL3pORkmQ.html And at 4:12 and on: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mpioY9OL3pORkmQ.html Hopes this helps

@@juliansanderson839 thank you so much for taking the time to explain this to me. I only recently started to box (1 month) and I have come from a background of weightlifting so your answer makes perfect sense. Much appreciated

@@theburtonsalesbanterchanne220 Hello, at 1:53 if you pause you’ll see him landing on his knuckles. Remember that with any strike, one of the most important things is to not injure yourself. Therefore, strike with bone on soft tissue. A punch is a strike with the knuckles, a palm strike with the end of the ulna, an elbow with the olecranon(not gonna lie, had to look up the name, a knee with the patella, etc. I hope you see this one day and it helps.
