Dmitry is one of my favorite fighters. He makes boxing look like fluid poetry - so elegant and beautiful. Another thing that makes him so special… when you watch his interviews, he’s so humble and has a very sacred and delicate spirit. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for him.

I hadn’t heard of him till than either, but when I started to research I knew Canelo wasn’t going to beat him and since then I’ve been obsessed with his style. Grateful that fight put him on my radar. Bivol is my favorite fighter! The pure boxing talent is such a breathe of fresh air. And the humility.. Love a boxer who shows no aggression internally just thru them gloves! And boy puts in that WORK!

the thing about Bivol is, even though he looks basic and orthodox, he's extremely unpredictable. It's like fighting the ocean wave in a storm. He hits with some heavy shots but when you put the energy to cover up, he was just lightly touching that makes you frustrated. More over, it never stops. The waves of jabs with random powers and an occasional heavy assault combos when you least expect it really break you down mentally.

I'm Mexican so obviously we tend to be obsessed with our fighters. But Bivol truly impressed me beating Canelo, and especially Surdo Ramirez. Perhaps your analysis is correct about him. I like that he is not defence minded, since I see that he goes forward a lot but unlike most fighters. Juan Manuel Marquez had a similar approach, which was why Juan Manuel was considered a boring fighter early in his career. Juan Manuel always said he would go for the knockout but in a intelligent way. Compared with Bivol though, I see a lot more careful distancing and footwork, though he doesn't run away he's always in the pocket. It's beautiful to watch. A very disciplined athlete. For me Bivol is pound for pound the best boxer.

Canelo started at 147 and went up to 175, that's 5 weight divisions, he's already small for the 168. He is 5'8, the average for welters, lol. Do you imagine Charlo fighting Tyson Fury? Lol.

I don't know if my English is good enough to explain. One of the main secrets of Bivol is hidden in the striking technique. Bivol throws his hands like stones tied to a rope. He is relaxed, not a single muscle is tensed. thats why, When he misses the target, he does not lose his balance and he don't gets tired from those combinations. Moreover, he hits with a strange inertia, his hand comes slowly at first and speeds up on the way. if he is looking hard punch, At the end of the kick, he can give hardness with his heels, which he puts on at the exact moment of contact. its tоo hard to adapt against it. and his footwork is not of the classic Soviet school, it is a little different, but I really don't know that much English ))))) RIP Isaev Petrovich, You raised a glorious champion.

Something you didn’t mention about his footwork and the wide stance is that, when standing still facing an opponent, he often gradually edges the front foot toward the opponent without them noticing, allowing him to creep into mid-range and punching range without them noticing, meanwhile if he needs to exit then he can push off that front foot and go backwards, out of range again.

Great boxer and one of the very few I enjoy watching, I watch his training sessions to motivate me when I train..The interesting thing about him is that on several times he has fought boxers that were heavier than him (There was no way they were light heavyweights, more like cruiser weights), it’s about time that when boxers get weighed in on these big fights we should be able to view the scales on a big screen, I’ve been suspicious for years now that boxers weights have manipulated in some way and that fights would of been cancelled if the true weights of fighters were announced. The Eastern Europe style has finally arrived on the international scene. With Loma, Uzyk and now Bivol. It will be interesting to see if future boxers try to develop it like some boxers today try and emulate the front shoulder low arm across the body (I’m not going to call it the Philly shell because it was used way back in time). The impressive part of Bivol is that he always try’s to get the last punch in after an exchange, to me this has always been the sign of a great boxer. Bivol v Berbetiev (Who is real special as well) is a must this year now, I’m more interested in this fight than Fury v Uzyk and Crawford v Spence (Which I’ve given up on). 🥊

Dude can fight with his lead foot coming in, and fight off the back foot with only str8 fundamental jabs!! And he also keep his guard up at all times never drops his guard!! I respect that 💯

As a fan of Bivol since long time, Im really happy for him for his accomplishments of the last year. Finally he is seen as the great boxer that he has been since a long time. Yes, is not the most exiting one, obviously, but the level of his tecnique at the ring is thing of beauty. Is not a KO artist, but he can adapt against every style and humillate everybody

Boxing Life, thank you so much for this outstanding analysis of Dmitry Bivol. Since I am a true and very dedicated boxer that competes to this day, I downloaded this excellent analysis of Dmitry Bivol and your analysis of Oleksandr Usyk. I have a request. I’m a southpaw and switch hitter boxer. Would you please create a boxing analysis of Ronald “Winky” Wright? Like Usyk and Bivol, the southpaw “Winky” is a skilled technician with an excellent defense and a shot gun jab. Nevertheless, thank you Boxing 🥊 Life, and I am glad that I subscribed to your KZfaq channel. 😎🔥 🥊🥊🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾💖✝️

The footwork stands above all. Not flashy like Loma but boy does it create problems for opponents. Watch just how quick he can move back and forward, not just the half steps. That's the foundation and there are no weaknesses to his game, maybe you could point to lack of head movement, common in Russian boxers but that high defence is just so solid anyway. Aside from that the guy still looks about 19 lol

Bivol acknowledges his own weaknesses in a professional manner. He doesn't fall short of modesty and intelligence describing himself. Not seen before in most boxers. Doesn't mean he's a good person since nobody is perfect just a disciplined professional. It would be interesting if he manages to combine his style and work more on his power.
