If Bivol has a smart gameplan and executes well I think he could pull it off. He's extremely disciplined, doesn't over-commit on his punches and controls the range very well. He's deceptively powerful as well, his punches have a great pop to them, he has very good conditioning and is able to keep up an extremely high work rate if he needs to. His fundamentals are genuinely some of the best I’ve seen from any boxer. You never see him get sloppy, and he doesn't use more energy than he needs to. He's a very very sharp fighter. As you see in this video, if his opponents aren't able to disrupt his rhythm they have no chance against him. I think if he were to fight Beterbiev has gameplan would probably be to keep him at range as much as possible, work the jab, and try to wear Artur down over the fight, conserving as much of his energy as he can while keeping it close and then start punishing Beterbiev from round 6 or 7 onwards. He has a really good jab and excellent distance control and that combined with his conditioning could end up being a problem for Beterbiev. That being said, Beterbiev hits like a goddamn truck and all it would take is a single mistake from Bivol for things to get real bad for him real quick. So many fighters Beterbiev has gone up against turn into completely different fighters after he gets one good shot in on them. One of two things tends to happen, either his punches just seem to take all the fight out of his opponents, OR they rapidly lose their discipline and start getting extremely sloppy (which leads to more openings, which leads to them getting hit again and it snowballs). I think that Beterbiev is capable of doing something critical that basically everyone who's fought Bivol hasn't been able to do. Artur almost certainly has the ability to disrupt Bivol's rhythm. His power, toughness, and aggressive style has the potential to make Bivol hesitate and not let Bivol fight the fight that he wants to fight. Still, in most of his fights Beterbiev has a much slower work rate when compared to Bivol and we've never seen his conditioning really tested (since none of his fights go the distance lol). Bivol still has an excellent guard and much better footwork than many of Artur's previous opponents and Bivol also doesn't just sit in range of his opponents when he fights, he's constantly moving in and out. Most of Artur's opponents have also been quite poor at fighting off the back foot and make the mistake of thinking they can sit in there and trade with Beterbiev. Something I highly doubt Bivol would be dumb enough to do. Whatever the outcome I think it would be a really interesting fight to watch and very competitive. At the bare minimum I think Bivol would be the biggest challenge that Beterbiev has faced to date. The biggest unknowns going into the fight for me would be, Artur's conditioning, the strength of Bivol's chin/how fights when he gets hurt or rocked, and finally, Beterbiev's ability to make adjustments mid-fight. So far we've never seen a fight where Beterbiev's primary game plan hasn't been successful and he's been forced to make a major adjustment to how he fights. I'd be shocked if this fight ended up being a slugfest, and I think if it goes the distance Bivol likely wins. But one major potential weakness for Bivol could actually end up being how textbook perfect his style and fundamentals are. For someone like Beterbiev, this could give him the ability to figure out Bivol's timing very quickly and set him up to catch Bivol with a devastating counter. The best way I can put it, is that my brain says Bivol wins and I think he is the better "boxer" between the two of them. But as I've said, it only takes a single shot from Beterbiev for the whole dynamic of the fight to change. Bivol was able to brush off some hard shots from Canelo, but in terms of power Beterbiev is in an entirely different league. But if you asked me who I'd rather go up against in the ring I'd say Bivol, not because I think I'd even have a chance of winning, but because I really really really don't want to be punched by Artur Beterbiev. He punches through you in a way that can cause some really serious damage and permanent injury. It's like a sledgehammer. Plus he's not afraid to really load up and put everything into a punch, even if it may leave him open/off-balance. Bivol's punches have that really quick viper-like "pop" where he brings them back and resets very quickly after they connect. He will load up as well, but he doesn't really do it in a way that has the potential to leave him off balance. Overall, it’s a really hard fight to pick a winner for but if I had to, I'd say Bivol by decision. I think the longer the fight goes the better Bivol's odds of winning. Of course as you know, anything can happen in boxing, so I think both guys have a real chance of winning. I imagine it would look a lot like the Canelo fight if it goes Bivol's way, but I think he would have to be at his absolute best. I rewatched some of the Canelo fight when I was thinking about this and there were shots Canelo landed early in that fight which Bivol was able to handle pretty easily. But I can't help thinking that if Beterbiev was the one throwing those, the effect they had on Bivol would have been different, if not fight-altering. EDIT: I think a great case study is a comparison of each of their Joe Smith Jr. fights. It really highlights their strengths as fighters and demonstrates the risks that each poses to the other. Two entirely different ways to victory over the same person.

Time will tell but for every one saying he’ll walk through Bivol , and Beterbiev as not students of boxing even some sound minds in boxing have told Alvarez he should stay clear of light heavyweight he’s playing with fire up there and he will find out it’s not as easy as he thinks we’re not counting a old Kovalev that’s not fair to that weight division it’s commonly known Kovalev has struggled with drinking regularly , and definitely didn’t look like the Krusher in that match and he still gave Canelo trouble the two latter are into Their primes and both hit harder than Canelo guarante that look at their knock out % I’m not going to take anything away from what Alvarez has done for himself but he’s not walking through them if anything he could Potentially get Himself hurt .
