Many of us remember the glory days of the great Iron Mike, but only true fans have the courage to keep his dark days in our memory.
Tyson was only beaten by just two opponents, stay to the end not only to learn what happened in those fights, but also what was going on in Mike's personal life, and why he agreed to step back into the ring only to surrender.
By the time of the fight, Tyson was already 17 months out of action. In fact, his last fight had been on February 22, 2003, when he knocked out fellow countryman Clifford Etienne in Memphis after just 49 seconds of the bell.
Many, to this day, point out that we were near the end of Tyson's career, but he dared not admit it.

Always humble, always honest my ass. The old man Tyson we see now days is not the same Tyson from the 80's 90's or early 2000's. In the beginning I was a fan of Tyson. Then I was not a fan of Tyson. I am not a fan now but rooting for him not to blow up and mess up everything he has going good for himself (minus Jake fight). As a spectator looking from the outside. I wish him peace. He was a top tier athlete in his sport. He will go down as a legend. He was an idol at some point in my childhood. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest boxers of all time. (Thinking to myself after I finished typing this. I do not know who the #1 heavy weight champion is right now.)

@@Lookin4LoveInAllTheWrongPlaces Agree with you. Tyson was like a ruthless animal and showed no respect! He bit Evander Holifield's ear! Tyson headbutted other opponents. The happiest moment for me was when Buster Douglas knocked Tyson out. Also, when Lennox Lewis (UK) brought Tyson to the ground!

Mike Tyson has always been basically, a nice guy. He had to do what he did to get to the top. He deserves the accolades & the respect he has earned over the years. It makes no difference that he lost his last fights against men that he would almost certainly defeated when in his prime.

No his last fights made him a legend. He had made the mistake that many fighters have made and that was to take fights when it was time to retire. He did because of a financial burden which can be understood. But at least in the last fight he stayed in the corner which was a smart move, better to keep one's dignity than be meat for the promotors

He was a boxing prodigy. He got taken advantage of and betrayed by real beasts, in his prime jealous of his fame at such a young age. His legacy will not tarnished in his final fights and for his humble honesty. Fighting to pay off debts, knowing the situation he was in, is commendable.
