@@thebigdogg2866 didnt look like Jake was even confident even days before the fight and getting to the ring and beyond. HE says he doesnt know what was weird with his legs but as many pros said, its simply the nerves of a beginner. you could clearly see he wasnt the same calm compposed, relaxed, present person he was as he walked to the ring as he was with Askren. Of course Tyron was a tougher opponents and thus normal pressure, but he definitely wasnt loose and confident like he needed to be in this last fight. So obviously he didnt perform as well as he could have, so its definitely true.

Tommy only had 10 amateur fights, that's why they're trying to feed him weak opponents, you can't just put a guy who has limited experiences with undefeated prospects. Since Jake only had 1 amateur fight, they needed something to substitute for Jake's lack of experience. BJ would call in guys with usually only a couple of days or a week of boxing training to pit them up against Jake Paul, and those would be like his amateur fights. In sparring, it's mostly just to test how good you are and fix your flaws, but in these training sessions, they aren't spars, they are fights where you just try to beat the other guy, that's why in such a short time, he looked good and became better in a short amount of time. Jake said that he was gonna take a break, so I think that Tommy has tons of time to improve and fight again.

Surprised by the decision? The overwhelming narrative is that Jake won the decision clearly, even other fighters agreed. Just sit back and continue to be upset. 4th pro fight and just beat a beast in Tyron Woodley. Nobody with 4 pro fights and no amateur experience is taking those kinds of fights, let alone headline PPV’s and selling out arenas.

Jake wants hype too for the money. Most of the viewers watch it casually for the 'spectacle' if you'd call it that. In all honesty, I do believe that Jake could hang with Tommy. But these guys need to hype up their fights more. I mean, realistically why would Jake risk a loss at this point for less money? He's doing the smart thing and we'd all do the same if we were in his shoes. However, I do believe that Jake might actually take the fight if there's enough hype.

@@orcqa2534 Problem with these people is that just because he comes from a background that they dislike makes them turn a blind eye to the fact that he takes his training seriously. It's like disregarding Lesnar's win over Randy just because Brock came from an entertainment background. And regarding him not facing a 'real boxer', these guys don't even put a fraction of the effort in promoting themselves or their fights. How's that gonna help in PPV money? They'll never satisfied when you know they're gonna do what Jake does if they were in his shoes 😂

Although I agree that Paul is a fraud. There's no way he's stopping now. He can find alot of ex-fighters, MMA retirees etc to fight him and pad out his record because he pays them incredibly well. There's alot of people who would fight him for that alone, and it means that Paul can continue his fantasy of being a 'boxer'.

Yeah. I can't see him wanting to fight tommy. Do you know how tall Tommy is BTW? The incident in the hallway was odd.... Jake and Tommy where on a collision course..but then all of a sudden there was that bang/Interuption.... Almost like it was done deliberately to prevent being in a situation where a fight could be agreed that Jake wouldn't want to go through with... Jake loves control.. Jake also fought an ex champion while Tommy fought a journeyman mma fighter. He also did half the rounds and fought much less impressively against a much smaller and far less skilled opponent. I dont care much for Jake paul but from what I watched yesterday Tommy has given me no indication that would easily beat Jake Paul.

I also trained mma for a few years, you're giving tommy praise for beating an mma guy that is arguably a much worse fighter than woodly. Paul has only 4 fights and has only trained 3 years tommy has trained his whole life with his brother who is the best in world and yet he only did as good as Paul did in his fight except against a much less talented opponent.

Exactly right! My exact thoughts! Tommy was nervous last night but I think he’s damn good and will be great one day. And those tall ass ropes saved Jake Paul for real bc that was a big shot he took. I didn’t notice the ropes at first until Woodley mentioned it after the fight. Is that normal for a boxing match? In my amateur fights the ropes were much lower.

I wish he could have stopped Anthony from wrestling and clinching but Anthony knew just enough to stay away from fury range. I got to give Anthony props for not getting ko badly from Tommy, and on the same hand learning to impose your will on someone with skill takes awhile to learn. You always learn more from loses too, so I hope Tommy considers this a loss but it is not reflected on his record but a personal loss of disappointment that he didn't land a clean shot and set up traps for Anthony so that he still needs to get motivated to turn it on during when someone is hard to deal with. Other than that, we glad he won but we knew he was going to, and the Jake Paul stuff was funny, because Jake obviously said Tommy was a prospect next fight during his build up but after fights change his mind and make excuses Haha ok Jake you never ko your sparring partner either so shut up, if Tommy would have then Jake would say something else, cry baby

What everyone is looking past is Tryon exposed Jake for the fraud he is they went 8 rounds not once was Woodley hurt or scared and Jake gassed out in the 4th so after that he was just surviving the only thing that saved him was Woodley being to laid back other than that Jake has nothing all those sparring sessions he has where he's knocking down guys is just because he tells them "light sparring" then takes advantage and clips them Jake is not a fighter he's a coward who doesn't want any part with a pro boxer because he will get spanked period!

While I completely agree with you that this fight exposed Jake ( in many ways ) I think you have to give this kid some proper credit and acknowledgment. In arguably his first “actual fight” this kid managed to go 8 rounds while and persevere through some very heavy shots while in the spotlight of a crowd larger than most of the best champions will ever perform. No amateur background and also arguably under duress ( for sure not the best version of himself ) probably from a massive adrenaline dump. There are almost no professional boxers with less than 5 fights that are going 8 rounds. It is incredibly difficult. Regardless of how I feel about his character I give him much respect for ability under those circumstances.

As a genuine life long fan of boxing I’m not at all disappointed of the card that showtime put together last night and the opportunity for exposure that the undercard fighters received is priceless. The Montana love fight was incredible. Dubois’ introduction to the US market and the chance for some name recognition amount casual fans. I find it hard to see this as bad for boxing. What’s bad for boxing is the bullshit fights put together due to the politics of the governing bodies and promoters. Their inability to make the fights that the fans want to see is what’s hurting the sport.

I think Tommy has a bright future in boxing. He knows he’s a novice and has a lot to learn and he’s definitely a respectful guy. Him and jake would be a good fight for them both as far their experience but I feel tommy will give jake alot of probkems bc of his size. I’m interested in seeing that fight.

he'd have better luck in France where they're known for throwing in the towel. check this out, the states have won more UFC championship fights than any other country. when it comes to the highest level of the purest combat sports, the u.s. has every other country beat in accolades. so maybe the u.s. isn't the best place to look for easy fights. just saying.
