we've all seen the ads for this on youtube and it has been spoken about everywhere on twitter.. after watching all these fanmade animations based off the webtoons series, i wholeheartedly believe it made me straight

Yeah, seems like it. Tbh, i feel ike many young people overdo 'Inclusivity'. I mean, i support evvvery single Letter of LGBT+ for my whole life now, but poly is just 'Not the main thing on this Planet' for a reason, no? I think some sort of over-reaction to all the norms society had, is showing its worst face here, making kids confuse 'Love WHO you want' with 'how many you want', which is definetly not the same. I think the deep, deep need for freedom and no more Norms has backfired here. I hope people dont start to think monogamy was totally-prevealnt for no reason. I hope Inclusivity and Freedom stay the good things they are. To clarify: Im for Freedom like Everyone else but Polyamory seems invalid to me. Me, who supported every single Letter of LGBT+. I dont want anything to be criminalized but i dont want people to think its valid on the Single Basis of 'internet told me so!'. The Internet has much Influence on what you think.

My biggest problem was that they didn’t all seem like they liked eachother. I mean, there are poly relationships where not all the people involved have chemistry with all of the group (I think it's called ENM? Ethically non monogamous? Something like that) but non of them have good chemistry. I wouldn't mind this staying in the canvas side of webtoon; the world always needs more cringe OC fanfiction; but it became an original, meaning that webtoon specifically picked it up and started paying the author to do weekly updates and payed for the promotion material (I think that's how it works, correct me if I'm wrong). I think why these boyfriends clips feel so awkward has to do with the way the dialogue is written and how flat all of the characters are. The art style is nice and clean AND efficient, which is a good thing for this medium of story telling, but the actual stories they’re telling are very flat because of the nature of the characters being 2D stand ins for people living out the gay experiences they want to have in real life. And to be clear, there’s nothing wrong with that, but I do find it to be the main source of my personal discomfort while watching this, as it feels so manufactured and the interactions are without flaw. It’s uncanny.

I’m honestly so surprised the comments under his video are so….idk normal?? With most ppl agreeing it’s incredibly cringey but that’s it. All my exposure to the “boyfriends webtoon hate” was people calling the author/artist all kinds of terrible names. Calling them homophobic, transphobic, fetishiser, etc etc. seeing some of the “criticism” (which was more often then not blatant hate not only towards the webtoon but to the human who created it). And I even had people tell me in person (not just on Twitter) that because they used caricatures that they were homophobic/transphobic and I was dumbfounded. It felt like they killed a puppy or smth with the amount of hate they were getting

The sad thing is, the art for boyfriends isn’t actually bad, it’s just they didn’t put any thought into the plot line other than “boys kissing and dating”. If they’d actually worked out a good story, it could’ve been a great webtoon.
