This is the song that changed my life. I was just 23 years old when this came out. I am 47 now. I credit this song and Amy Grant for my change then and now. Although, I always believed in God... I wasn't serving Him like I should have been. This song and album made me realize that in order to truly live, I needed to serve God. I made a change then and I'm proud to say, I am a better person for doing so. Peace

Reaching out to the troubled, softening the hearts of the angry,offering a glimpse of hope to an otherwise lost person, these are the subjects the new Christian artists are singing about. They've left the church and are touching souls in a new way. They're saying it's okay to be different or an outcast. God still loves you just the way you are. I only wish the dude from Virginia Tech had been reached. You and I will never know how many lives this music has changed. That to me is new.

Real Christians don't throw stones. I hear so many out there quick to judge but if the Master appeared to them in the flesh ,they would be shut down so fast. Yet, the Master is still watching...

Thank you Amy for sharing your faith in the Lord through your music. I love the part at 2:20 where it goes "If our God His Son not sparing came to rescue you, is there any circumstance that He cant see you through?" This song made it on the secular radio back in the 80s. Its harder for a Christian artist to do that now.

Her first crossover hit. It's like Michael W. Smith's crossover hit, "Place in this World"...ironic that a song from his 6th lp would lead to him winning an American Music Award for best new artist.

And we didn't really dress like they did in music videos - well, maybe the jacket, but not with the gold shirt :) I totally had my "Amy Grant Jacket" and wore it when I sang her songs at school, in talent shows and stuff :) Mine was black with gold paisley. Very special ;-) Just about every guy I knew then was in so much love with Amy and thought her jacket (which she got all judged for - i still don't get that even a little bit) was very cool! Great tune!

From the album liner notes: "I started writing this song one day while I was cleaning house. I'd gotten some pretty hopeless sounding letters from people whose lives were in shambles. It wasn't a new idea. Surely everybody's felt that way before. Anyway, the house stayed dirty that day. Here's what I did..."

There's always been a segment of Pharisees & Saducees in the Church that want to cast out & stone Christian singers who climb the secular charts = She got even more heat in 1986 for her duet with Peter Cetera (The Next Time I Fall In Love) and her 1991 hits Baby Baby, Every Heartbeat, That's What Love Is For, and I Will Remember ~ Michael W. Smith endured the same with his early 90s hits Place In This World & I Will Be Here For You.... Now, Lauren Daigle is literally being called "demonic" for her hit song You Say :O Way To Go, Churrrch!! :/
@airdriver17 жыл бұрын
When this video came out, I was amazed that VH-1 was playing it at all. But what really blew me away was how so many Christians were very offended that Amy came out with a conventional hit song. Nothing like the eighties.

i finishe reading a biography of amy grant a few days ago...i'm a fan...her career was calculated no different from michael jackson's or the beatles....she always intended to get her message out to the widest audience possible...if that meant going pop, so be it...she's also very honest about who she is and about being a woman...she not ashamed of her sexuality and doesn't try to hide...bascially, she's just saying it's cool to be you, god still loves you...
