BASINGSTOKE 1987 RAILSHOW on 27th September 1987
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of the very sucessful Basingstoke Rail show of 1987. It featured just about every type of traction at that time plus several vintage stock such as the 2 BIL and 4 SUB EMU's dating back to the 1930s. D200 made several trips West from Basingstoke and proved very popular. Cross Country trains were still 47 Hauled and there seemed to be extra loco hauled specials on that day and over the weekend. The weekend event was a real winner and hats off to the GM and all organisers of this truly memorable rail show.....I wish I had covered it more.

Omg I recall seeing 50013 passing I was somwhere near the line of locos when it passed I was 11!!

This is very helpful footage do you have anything from around 1980 at Basingstoke?

I was there too having come down from Brum with my Dad. I think we might have been on the train hauled by 47521 which I assume was the first train down via Oxford that Sunday - do you know specifically what time that footage was shot at? No gen on that train on The Bashing Years website nor the service on which Agincourt made that excellent departure.

47521 worked 0855 Liverpool-Poole from Reading, and 50013 was probably on 1410 Waterloo- Exeter. There is info on the RailGenArchive website.

Well it's certainly more boring than that these days! Is it me or do these kind of events just not happen anymore? I remember going to the Woking 150 event as a kid. I'm not aware of anything like that happening in recent decades.

Closest could be the depot open days the FOCs would hold once in a while, DRS does them very well.
