BRITISH RAILWAYS IN THE 1980's
DONCASTER STATION on 4th February 1987
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of Doncaster taken on 04/02/1987. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated,but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Brings back memories, I used to walk over that footbridge going to and from work at the plant. Valuable footage reminding me of my favourite era and useful for modeling reference.

That 150 at 3.10 must of been brand new, plastic covers still on the seats. No full yellow front either. No sign of any electrics yet I wounded if those wires are energised . The big grey building across the car park was the BR Eastern region head quarters , back in the day we used to call it the Embassy. I saw my first 91 at donny ,they ran with Mk3s and a hst dvt on the other end . Me and my mate jumped on and went to Leeds and back . Those were the days , thanks for uploading this , you have made a 54 year old feel young again 😊

HSTs say what you like they certainly upgraded the ECML but they came with a very high maintenance price.Excellent work [again!]

nice video i the early seventies to the mid eightys i went through doncaster a lot at the works entrance in the early seventies you may see class 81/82/83/84 electrics and class76electrics later you see class50s in 1977 while heading south my train was diverted on to the goodslinesgoing past doncaster mpd at the back of the shed where three withdrawn class24s waiting for the melt shopbut one was 24126 my last inverness class24 i enjoyed marking that one in

Yes a lot of trains pass through Doncaster, usually to and from Edinburgh/London...Many thanks....Mark
