I unfortunately am dealing with a tumor that tripled in size and has infiltrated my brachial plexus nerve and artery area rendering me literally 97% paralysis of my left arm. All I can do is believe this tumor will shrink with treatment giving back mobility to my left arm. Not a fun waiting game, but what can you do 🤷🏾‍♀️. Appreciated this video to give me an in depth insight of what’s going on in that area.

@@ruthchiji I practiced on cadavars, it helps to see the anatomy in context with other parts of the body. But Sam Websters videos definitely helped me the most!

Are the pulses I can feel inferior to my collarbone and in my armpit coming from the same artery? And is everything bundled in the brachial plexus why one should avoid pressing anything near a pulse into the ribs, because doing so can impinge a nerve?

This is so clear and interesting! So, is thoracic outlet syndrome caused by impingement of the plexus by the clavicle?

Thoracic outlet syndrome describes the compression of any of the major structures around here, so yes, parts of the brachial plexus but also arteries or veins. There are different causes, but you've spotted the narrowing here so anything that makes this narrower can lead to thoracic outlet syndrome problems. It's not necessarily the clavicle's fault but something else might be compressing these structures against the clavicle.
