Ninja Nerds!
In this lecture Professor Zach Murphy will be teaching you about the cervical plexus! The cervical plexus is a network of nerve fibers that supplies innervation to some of the structures in the neck and trunk. We will be outlining all of the nerves within the cervical plexus and the muscles they innervate.
The cervical plexus located in the posterior triangle of the neck, halfway up the sternocleidomastoid muscle, and within the prevertebral layer of cervical fascia. The plexus is formed by the ventral rami (divisions) of cervical spinal nerves C1-C4. We hope you enjoy this lecture and be sure to support us below!

When you learn the insertion and origin it's logical i.e sternothyroid origin: manubrium of the sternum, clavicle insertion: oblique line of thyroid cartilage. *Muscle contracts towards the origin* . This muscle pulls the larynx downwards.

I've seen respiratory specialists, neurologists, cardiologists. No one has been interested in my condition/symptoms. I'm desperate for help. I'm continuously being told it's anxiety, psychosomatic, or the newer, more tactful terminology for those things...Neurological Dysfunction Disorder. Up until earlier this year, I had been told my chronic neck pain was fibromyalgia (too hard basket) for over 10 years. I had a DMX which showed some instability in my neck. I also had an ultrasound of right sided brachial plexus which indicated compression of the subclavian artery, however TOS was ruled out because there were no structural issues. So I've been living with completely debilitating symptoms for 10 years, with the last 4 being horrendous. I can't hold my head up for more than a few minutes without having to rest my neck muscles. Proper postural strengthening exercises exacerbate the pain and symptoms. For the last 8 months I have experienced a continuous deterioration in my respiration. There is constant, and I mean constant resistance when inhaling, and my exhale is weak and don't expel enough air. I have nearly constant tachycardia. I lost muscle and weight rapidly (12kg in 6 weeks). Sleep apnea went from mild to severe in 2 months (15 respiratory arousals in 5 hours to 191 respiratory arousals in 5 hours). CPAP/APAP/BIPAP don't work, because I'm not able to expel enough air in general, let alone with positive air pressure filling my lungs. Heart has checked out fine except for unexplained inappropriate sinus tachycardia. Tilt table tested positive for a variant of POTS. Thyroid is fine. All blood work is ok. But breathing is a constant struggle. I've had all the tests. LFT shows weakening MIP and MEP and spiro. But all they tell me is that it's mild asthma. But I've had mild asthma my entire life, but nothing like this. It feels as though my autonomic breathing is slowly failing. I saw a neurologist who blamed everything in on low iron(which has now been remedied). An EMG and nerve studied didn't indicate any Neuro muscular conditions, so she dismissed me from her care. I have disc protrusions, stenosis, and subluxations in my cervical spine. Could this be causing problems with my respiration? Phoenix nerve? Vagus nerve? Sniff test shows diaphragm is functional. CT scans of chest, abdomen and throat are fine. MRI of brain is fine. I'm lost. I need guidance,
