In this #shorts video I'll describe what bracing is, describe the two types of functional core training, and show some examples of bracing exercises that can be classified as either isometric or isotonic movements (like planks vs crunches)
The 7 fundamental human movement patterns that I teach all my students are the: squat, hinge, lunge, push, pull, brace, and locomotion. We'll take a deep dive into the correct exercise technique, joint movements performed, muscles used during each of these basic movement patterns.

I found it interesting that there are so many muscles that we need to train for bracing. I will remember to train my core in a variety of ways so I will not neglect any muscles.

In my previous gym experiences I have done isotonic movements such as crunches and russian twists. I would like to learn how to effectively do core excercises on a pullup bar. I believe I have a weak core and would like to become stronger

When it comes to bracing exercises what is your opinion on table crawls and rolling/grabbing?
@DrJacobGoodin
@DrJacobGoodin 2 жыл бұрын
crawling/rolling adds an element of coordination that has great carryover to other activities. If you think about it, any athletic movement involves central stability to achieve distal mobility and/or velocity. I use crawling movements often in warmups!
