This may be why I frequently pull my ball at release and miss my target 2-3 boards to the left. Doesn't matter if I'm projecting the ball out or playing down and in. It's been bugging me for years, but I never thought my shoulder position could be at fault. I will pay more attention to this from now on. Thanks for the tip! Happy Holidays!

this sort of answers my question about your shoulders being square to the foul line at release, since the ball is tracking to the right initially are your shoulders still squared up to the foul line when you release? It seems like it here.

very nice video covering the for and aft of the right shoulder location.....however there is another dimension in the shoulder swing and that is the inadvertent lifting of the right shoulder in the backswing. If you tend to swing backwards and at the same time lift the right shoulder up ( like to your neck area ...bunching if you will ) the return forward is completely messed up because you must now lower your right shoulder again if you have the timing to do so and still swing the arm. So the big muscles really stop the small muscles from working in a nice arc and in a relaxed way …..really important....

Based on your good/bad pic I expected it to be about the left shoulder (sep vid probably), but this hit the totality of throwing shoulder needing to be set. Keeping my left from rotating back was a major fix to my inconsistent release that choked center at times. This is a great vid to rewatch & remind ourselves to keep it centered throughout, esp at release. Thanks guys 👍

I was in a nasty slump and struggling to break a 500 series. Main issues were hitting light, missing right frequently and ball not hooking well. I implemented their tips during my bowling session during my lunch break today and my game greatly improved. Shot a 178, 215 and 205. Man, never under estimate your shoulders.

Whoa. Thanks! Never thought of my bowling shoulder. I noticed now I actually tend to pull it backwards on my push away. Which makes sense as I have a natural tendency to miss by projecting the ball right of my target.

This video was helpful. I think this explains why my shots are so often too far to left from where I'm aiming with my eyes. It is because my shoulder isn't in the correct position when I'm releasing the ball. I will work on this detail tomorrow. But I also find it helpful when lining up not to face directly at the lane but to turn my body sideways when lining up so that if I'm on lane 20, my body is mostly facing the lane to my right (lane 19 if you're counting the lanes from left to right).

Another great video guys! I have this problem currently. I end up leaning too far forward at the foul line and the ball either goes wide or gets pulled up the middle. I have been practicing emphasizing my balance arm position to force my shoulders to stay put, which is helping, but I can't practice right now due to an injury.

@amonacoamonaco

serious question. In the swing (not push away) Can't you keep your throwing shoulder back by keeping your balance arm / shoulder ahead by extending in front of you and or pointing at where you are going to release ? I guess this might promote some extra movement as you move through your swing and the momentum changes as you follow through like at 2:38. is there a happy medium? thx.

Hey guys. I’ve been struggling trying to get higher speeds on my throw. I naturally throw around 15 1/2 mph but can only throw it 16 1/2 without flattening my hand a lot. Do you guys have any tricks or tips you could tell me or have a video on? I don’t think I’m physically incapable of throwing it faster but I’m kind of lost. I do also plant on my wrong foot so that may be the ultimate problem. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

Can you show it from different angles how it's supposed to look dropping the ball into your swing? Is this mainly for four or five step approach? It seems easier to do with a five step. Is this mainly used for playing inside lines, or should I do this playing an outside line? Soooooo many questions lol. I appreciate the response, you're definitely one of my favorite younger bowlers to watch.
