D double E was around before Grime MCing over Jungle and Garage. I was at Ghetts show in London before lockdown and D Double came out and the place just erupted with the first adlib. The feeling he invokes on stage is just incredible. He really is a Lord of this Grime ting lol

“Buda bup bup” is D double’s ad lib catchphrase that is a part of his unique sound. No other grime MC uses it. There have been other MC’s who have used unique as libs of their own eg Scratchy from Roll Deep crew’a high pitch squealing (see Scratchy -Pied Piper), but D Double E is regarded as a legend of Grime and although he is not particularly lyrical, metaphorical or advanced, he is well respected. Grime and old school Garage/Jungle etc MCs take the inspiration for this type of sound from late 80s/early 90s Jamaican Dancehall and Reggae. It was pioneering Jamaican artists that would “toast” the mic while DJs played. See people like Sister Nancy - Bam Bam and Eek a Mouse - Bitty Bong.

The "mans got a spot" bar is really a triple entendre referring to having a spot to grow weed/having someone to spot you at gym (help when you're lifting weights) AND the spot from a laser like you said, then he carries on the weed reference in the next line with "it's not a haircut when I say my G's got crop" Would also recommend Meekz from U.K, and Squeeks too. Keep up the content too guys, you're one of the few I've seen that actually catch on to the meanings and doubles as well.

D double is an original grime MC. At One with the beat. He is there to make the crowd lively. Check out his live set at Notting Hill Carnival and you would see exactly what I mean. Definitely part of the culture.

Now THIS is my vibe... GRIME!!! "Ghetts ft Kano, Chip & Mercston - BBC1XTRA Freestyle..." 4 legends on one GRIME set. Remember GRIME SETS are like lyrical hot potato, Double Dutch with bars... the DJ is swinging the musical rope and the MCs gotta skip on the riddim back2back with bars. As one MC spits the other listens out to the changing beat and chooses from his head full of rhymes the lyric which will best match. If he drops a perfect lyric and catches the beat that's like sticking a landing in gymnastics, the DJ wheels up the track like in Reggae Dancehall. Another great GRIME Set to add to your list is "Studio 82 with Big Zuu, Eyez and Manga", a brilliant example of GRIME culture.

D Double has particular unique ad libs. Inc buda but bup. Oh my gosh/oh my word. Its Reem/it's cool cool etc...dir tee tee He's OG legend but acquired taste. Street fighter riddim is an excellent song but his grime sets are legendary how he gets crowd hyped or moving

He is known as your favorite emcee's favorite emcee. Later you will find out that he is Kano, Skepta and Ghetts favorite rapper of all time. a interesting thing to react to is 'D Double E - Fresh N Clean' Ikea used one of his song in an advert without his permission and instead of just bullying him and ignoring him and using the song anyway Ikea actually commissioned him to make a new song for the advert which he did which is D Double E - Fresh N Clean Another song used in TV was 'Jaykae - Toothache' it was used in s4 of Power

Keep running your boat In Cockney rhyming slang face is replaced with boat because they would switch words around so the boat race which is a famous event that takes place in London every year becomes boat race = face, shortened to boat for face. A lot of Cockney rhyming slang does this takes a word rhymes it with something then uses the unrelated word. It’s a whole another thing but I think (and I guess it’s open to interpretation) he’s trying to mix his rhymes with Cockney rhyming slang. So yeah essentially saying running your mouth. Haha.
