The Bradys shake their booties with the cast of "What's Happening!," Rick Dees and some frighteningly corny disco ducks!

I'm a bona fide child of the 1970s, so I've never had a problem liking the insane pop culture from that decade. The 1970s featured mockery of "good taste" and seriousness in the form of crazy alienation and guiltless extravagance. I have lots of fun watching things like this crazy "disco" segment on the Brady Bunch's variety show. 1970's pop wasn't made for the weak or the self-conscious, but for those who had (and still have) a very active sense of humor and a guilt-free love for camp.

This is so bad, it's actually great. I love it. Cindy really grow up to be beautiful -- Wow! I kept looking at her thinking "Cindy? Is that really you? You've changed." Marcia always beautiful. And Jan-Geri had a great voice but whenever I see her I still miss Jan-Eve. I grew up watching the Bradys but never knew Greg could actually sing and dance. Bobby could also dance. And Peter hung in there but clearly dancing and singing is not his thing but he still looked like he was having fun. The Bradys were our favorite family so I could never hate them or pan anything they did but clearly this was not the best idea for the Bradys. However overall, I actually love this. It horribly fantastic and it makes me smile especially today when television is disgusting. The Bradys smile and look happy and I can let my grandson watch it. I'm ordering the DVD. No joking. I'm serious. I love the Bradys.

Imagine what it must have been like for Eve Plum to watch this. She must have felt like she had just dodged an oncoming train.

I watched the Brady Bunch as a kid, Fat Albert too. I even remember the cartoon commercial to buy the tape with Donald Duck singing Disco Duck. Somehow I don't remember the Brady Bunch Variety Hour though. I'm thrilled I found this though.

Most people don't know that the last episode of the Brady variety hour aired the same day Star Wars was first released: May 25, 1977

I can only say , I played team, sports as a child - so, I probably never even heard of the Brady variety hour. However, I loved the variety shows of the 70s because, to me, they were basically the end of vaudeville. And, for the only time in my life during these shows did Rip Taylor actually act normal - well, more than I ever seen.
