Listen to the articulation, particularly in the last movement. You can hear EVERY note of those fast, cross string, passages that 99% of other even great players gloss over or "smudge". Not so with Hilary Hahn. Every single note in every phrase is crisp and audible, in perfect rhythm.

Great performance by Hahn and great conducting by Putin. edit: In all seriousness though, I think that Hilary Hahn interprets Brahms the best. Beyond her phenomenal technical skill to master this tough concerto, she plays with a natural "heaviness" in her bow and vibrato that perfectly suits the richness of Brahms.

My dad introduced me to Brahm´s music when i was about 7 years old: many years have passed and he is not with me anymore. Listening to Brahm is like having a bit of my dad again.

We have all known people who say that they are not interested in music; it does nothing for them. That is like admitting that a piece of your soul is missing. Great art, whether it be music, painting, sculpture, photography, architecture......adds so much to life that to live without it or not to appreciate it would be no life worth living. Listening to this is an audio feast.

This conductor and the Frankurt Radio Orchestra are really impressive. Very, very tightly organized when they play......reminds me of the old Toscanini recordings. This seems to be the perfect collaboration with Ms. Hahn.

She makes me cry. Mr. Bell and others don't. When she plays one doesn't think about how well she can play, but rather how beautiful Brahms' Concerto is. And not even THAT, just wallowing in the glorious sound of the music! It's as she's not even there, she the music!

The perfection of the double stops is almost unthinkable. Such control over all of the technical stuff along with extremely well-planned articulation of the more expressive passages. Beautiful.

Seems like, underneath Hilary's videos, the comments aren't all just arguments about who is better than her. It's a great thing to see that all of you are just enjoying the wonderful music. I've seen too many comments underneath many other videos of violinists, where people become so critical and end up wasting their time in comment fights.

Stunning playing of my favourite violin concerto by the best violinist in the world. Hilary is my kind of woman. Impeccable manners, the epitome of class. I could watch and listen to her for hours. When I was a kid and a teen I used to listen to the Brahms often while reading The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings. After the Peer Gynt Suite, and perhaps Grieg's piano concerto, the Brahms always seemed the most fitting music somehow.

Majestic. Hilary so cool and calm always smiling. Truly a great violinist. After 3 years I must add that she plays a magnificent Adagio. It seems like I am hearing it for the first time when actually the first time was about 50 years ago. How is it even humanly possible to produce such exquisite music?

I’m not a classical music expert but I do recognize that this is amazing talent on display.

WoW, she is is so certain. So on key and in touch with the orchestra. Her attitude and behaviour is of a kind I maybe have never seen before. What a woman.

Her playing absolutely compliments Brahms's music. Brahms is simple in a way that makes it extremely complex and deep and very hard to capture successfully. Hilary Hahn's technically flawless playing and very deep interpretation takes it to whole new level.

Brahms had such a way with melodies! Also, it's so great to see Hahn playing something that shows off her emotional range!

Hiliarys' power and control particularly in the higher register is fantastic. Combined with Jarvi and the FRS the result is wonderful music making. It is also a pleasure not to be distracted by the contribution of the couturier.

This is really where Hahn's unique bow playing makes a massive difference with every violin player in the world and probably the history. You can hear this at every single note.

Hilary Hahn, Brahms and Franckfurt radio orchesta, Paavo Järvi, what else ? The sond is beautiful, the right tone, perfectly steady as nobody has never played...just a detail ? I love for exemple Jascha Heifetz and Jehudi Menhuin, and have always been so close to them for any reason; I think they were absolutly gifted; But nobody can play all along his life without defaults, and sometimes for many years, in spite of marvelous abilities. Hilary Hahn gave us a unique rendition of Bach 's partitas in her early years, probably fifteen years old !, much more in accordance to bach than Jascha ever did; another way of life, another story, another syle, of course...but less vibrato doesn' t remove deep feelings; Hilary has got her own and precious heart, a deep and clear expression, different than any history would influence or could impregnate. A free and personal expression which is extremely sensitive and delicate, a beneficiant spreading, heavenly given. I can precise that i am personaly very close to Menhuin and Heifetz for an obvious reason...., and nevertheless i am able to hear inapropriate influences; Some violinists or viola players have been able more recently, to understand that meaning and to propose a purest maner of playing. Hilary Hahn is an american women, i think America has much contributed to a get a new line of sight, involving music awareness and cultural heritage from any countries. the result is here I am glad to hear Miss Hilary Hahn as a well blessed violinist , whom allowed everyone to look through future without any regret. She is a master, it is sometimes difficult to welcome masters in our own families. Her violin doesn' t cry, it moves us to tears, that is the difference, and most of it, she brings us to contentment, delight and joy. Hilary Hahn has been one of the world's greatest violinists for several decades....

The orchestra works very hard to earn the right to perform soloists of Hilary's caliber. My dad plays in this orchestra and his girlfriend is playing violin in this performance and they practice to perfection and the orchestra expects each member to maintain an incredibly high standard. That is how such an incredible performance such as this one comes about and the work that goes into it should not be taken for granted. I was lucky enough to see Hilary perform with them many many years ago and it's impossible to describe the force of her performance. She demands your attention. She's also a wonderful person and someone I looked up to as a violin player in my youth and this hasn't changed since.

This violin concerto written by Brahms is for me one of this composer’s main masterpieces. The interpretation required of the violinist is amazing. Hilary Hahn plays her touchingly in sensitivity and beauty. The orchestra and its direction are remarkable. Bravissimo for this magnificent interpretation and recording that gives us moments of unforgettable pleasure.

some moments I love from the first movement: 1:05 - this little tune played by some of the woodwinds reoccurs many times through the piece 2:56 - this intense moment, and the way the sound fades in 2:59 3:06 - the build up 4:53 - just beautiful 5:38 - something about this melody that goes on through 6:00 (also that tune i talked about earlier is being played at the end of that melody as well) 7:19 - this beautiful melody that goes on through 7:50 8:57 - this intense moment that goes on pretty much through 10:11 then switches at 10:12 to the soft melody we’ve heard before 11:51 - that i’d add this too 12:43 - building up to my favorite part of the piece 13:12 - build up to the arrival at 13:20 (my favorite part) 13:54 - the flute plays one of my favorite melody’s from earlier 15:33 - this beautiful melody again 22:00 the rest of the orchestra returns 23:13 building up to the finale 23:18 these double stops and thats pretty much it! reply with what you all think i should add

What more could one ask for? A fantastic, confident and excellent German orchestra, plus this heavenly violinist. This performance was made in heaven, in both the playing of the Orchestra and this wonderful lady. At last something KZfaq has loaded which makes the world a better place to be. So many thanks.

Ok am I the only person who actually loves it when Hilary plays it still?! She definitely moves a lot more now than her earlier years, but I love it when she produce such beautiful, solid, consistent, and perfect tones. I love her playing regardless, but I think when she plays it still, her impeccable skills completely stand out. Watching her produce that perfection is an art.

This is a performance of the highest order. A work of utter beauty. This performance is up there with those of Heifetz, Kogan and Oistrakh. I hope to hear her live one time. The tone of her violin is utterly pure. Listen to the cadenza for example. The sheer beauty of it brings tears to my eyes... The orchestra and conductor are also doing a splendid job. I could go on and on about this performance, but hey: just listen...

The best violinist right now and in modern times. Beyond superb. Her masterpiece is Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E Op 64 which is purely beyond perfection. An enigma in our times and a superb person as well. I am in total awe. Human excellence.

I swear, it's not just that they dress up for performances, musical artists are so physically beautiful.

After many years of being a musician, I have learned something important. Feeling, etc. is bullshit if you don't have a perfect set of ears. Hilary has that. She also knows how the music is constructed. This is HER performance. Everyone else is along for the ride (of their lives) and they love playing with her, and she loves them. This is just another great perfect moment in Creation. Those of us with opinions should have HER set of ears..........
