Braid - Catching the Princess without the stars!

8 stars are hidden in Braid, very difficult and time consuming to get. The 8th is found in the last (first?) level... and requires the other 7 to get. When you have the 7 stars, the levers you pull to let the Princess through are green, so you can pull them, go back to the start, have them already pulled, and run through the level much faster. You can then jump on the chandelier the Princess drops and catch up to her. However, you can still do this without the stars, but it requires a perfect run through...

at first i thought that you've found a glitch.. then i remember that finding the starts was pretty obsesive.. so now i think this game is perfect, even if you find another way, it proves what it wants to

+Torrallon Medan so, I've seen people reach the levers that trap the girl when you go to REAL time(she's running from you, not from the knight) except they don't use them until right after she passes them (they literally stand and wait there until she passes) so, what would happen if you caught her in this way?

@SystemFreaKk13 Well, as you collect stars, they appear in the sky outside Tim's house, and when you get them all, it shows a drawing of the princess... but if Tim looks up, it disappears! That's the only other difference, I believe.

I knew my people would also try this. I can confirm it still works and if you don't have all the stars you're supposed to at this point, this star won't spawn either.

It's because he created a time paradox. The princess would have activated the chandelier, but by riding the chandelier up, Tim activated it before/after she did/could; therefore, paradox.

Nice video - followed it through and after some great difficulty managed it. As it is for the timing with the plants I assume your performance up to the first plant doesn't matter as it holds you back? Wow though those timings are super tight though - those ladders are really annoying! They should have an achievement for this version due to the difficulty in pulling it off. :)

I just did this last part without knowing all those tricks to make the road easier (the jump at the corner to gain space, the trellis thing...), and at the moment of jumping on the monsters avoiding the one that walked in the tiny space at 3:30 I had so little space between me and the fire that I did it a thousand times, but at least i did it. However, I dont understand this thing about the stars to collect, I mean I dont know if I have stars, is there a way to check them out if I got 'em eight?

have you tried go to the end when the girl sleeps, and then rewind to go up, because then is no fire chasing them and the nuclear bomb may not happen and they get eachother

I've tried this about 20-40 times everytime I get to the part where their are two cacti the first one i always up and I have to wait for it to go down & then by time second cati goes down princess is ahead of me :P doesn't matter if i have a perfect run through EXACTLY like this video I've tried it almost 10 times and I still can't get it to where I can be near the Chandelier at the right moment :P

Actually that's one of the easiest ones, since all you have to do i literally wait, possibly while watching a movie or anime on your computer. I was referring more specifically to all the juggling and absolutely perfect timing required for some of the others, as well as the one found on the world 3 puzzle which can only be obtained BEFORE you assemble the painting. Once you already did...well the only choice left is to restart the game (fun fun)

I posted that comment before I read up more onto it and actually played the game for myself there's a lot of theories- and there was no actual answer given just something to think about. I understand the game itself is basically a set of trials dedicated to the moral of the game. Basically each puzzle representing regret and his ability to reverse any mistake he's created except for that of which is long lost of course that being the "princess " just many theories based of of that haha

If I was Blow, I would have done that too. But here's the thing, they make all their levels in a fixed editor; it's already pretty hard to make a switch green or not green depending on the stars. Here's a little-known fact: It's not just the green levers that change, the second ledge starts out closer to the Chandelier.

Gotta love the soundtrack for this game As for that comment, interesting take, but ignorance does not exempt one from guilt. For example, you fail to defuse a bomb, killing a family in the process because you didn't know what to do. Does regretting bring them back? No. And no matter how sorry you are, from that moment you will forever be a villain in other people's eyes and maybe even your own. Believe me, I KNOW

Certanly - the only way to do this "achievement" is by mastering the games mechanics. And as you can see the whole process is really difficult, and requires a great lot of patience. Imagine you are playing this in front of a friend, who has no idea why you are so persistent about getting this "princess", that you go through all this trouble just to get her (and its much more complicated than getting all the stars!). You would look like a fanatic, a madman even, and there you go - you became like Tim. Well, at least that's my opinion...

The entire stage is reversed, meaning music too. look at the cannonballs, they fly into the gun.

Wrong. The critical part are the two plants between you and the chandelier... they'll only be passable during a short period of time around 3:39... to reach that place at that time, you need a perfect run! To reach it later than that, means the first cactus will be blocking your way and the princess will be ahead of you, barring the secret ending.

there's no star where you are cuz you alredy took it.and you alredy have the 8 stars so that ending works every time you want.but only if you jump on the chandelier

No, there's no star because it only appears if the 7 stars are there.

when you take the star, the star outline is missing if you play the ending again. so no, they did not take it already.
