Unknown to his parents, Leo experienced a stroke during his birth that caused hydrocephalus, the buildup of fluid in the cavities (ventricles) deep within the brain. The excess fluid increased the size of the ventricles and put pressure on Leo's brain.
Despite appearing healthy and happy at first, Leo's condition steadily worsened to where he was considered a "failure to thrive," leaving his parents searching for answers that they didn't get for the first year of Leo's life.
Not willing to accept that his only recovery options were traditional occupational and physical therapy, Leo's parents set out to find advanced treatment programs. Fortunately, they found ‪@ApexbraincentersAvl‬ and immediately began seeing improvements in Leo's condition.
