WOULD NOT START AFTER I removed the govenor on my sons predator 224 and the internal low oil sensor and when i got done the engine wouldnt start and i was freaking out because it was my first time !! i ended up finding out its because when i pulled the cam the valve tappets came down a little so i pushed them back up not thinking much of it and later found out that can let the connceting rods fall out of place , so i took the valve cover off and sure enough they came off the rockers so i took it apart and put it back together and ahe fired right up hope this helps anyone who makes the same rookie mistake , i found 1 comment in 15 videos that led me to the problem so i figure i will repost same info!!

The top speed can only increase if you have an increase in shaft speed=maximum rpm with the same clutch and rear sprocket teeth. Since the motor has more power you could lower the teeth of the rear or add teeth to the front sprocket and see a speed increase.

When doing a givener removeral I know u put the back piece taht was on the govener and u cut it and put it back in but do u plug the whole with the givener arm came from?

I removed my govenor and put it back together now it wont start brand new engine its gettin fuel and spark idk the kill switch is good too trued hard wiring it idek what else to do

You get much better acceleration with the 224. You’ll need a gearing change to increase top speed.

you might try a "torque converter" set your gear ratio for around 50mph at the max torque range (~3600 rpm -?) TAV 20 asymmetric belt type have roughly a 2.8 to 1 ratio range so take off and hill climbing power will be pretty good even if geared for a theoretical 50+ mph. I think I once saw a hp vs wind drag calculator which could be helpful.

That's fast for stock and Gov. removal. I went from 21 mph to 37 with Gov removed and Stage 1. I've seen straight chained guys go 60mph with my improvements and 212 Pred. You're one brave dude! I sure wouldn't be going that fast with all those side streets and cars parked along the road for people to pull out.

JZ that's a lot of metal in there. I only ran mine for about 30 minutes to let the rings seat. When I drained the oil and pulled the side cover, there weren't any metal shavings anywhere. Great video!

Much of the metal shavings may have been left over from the manufacturing process. Back in 2009-2010 I bought 3 196's from Harbor freight. I opened them up brand new (never started) and there was a scary amount of metal shavings inside all 3. I ended up disassembling them to clean everything out. One of them sat on the shelf for 10 years until I decided to do a mild build on it for my Coleman.

Read this before breaking in my 224. Oil came out as if someone poured glitter into the engine all three flushes during break-in. Thanks for this. 224 is supposed to be significantly worse than 212 with debris in the motor.

How did you set up the linkage for throttle after you removed the governor arm???? This video skipped the whole process

Straight forward, buy a new set of throttle grips with nipple already on the cable. Or take the stock cable, measure and cut the cable that goes into the carb. Then solder a tip on the end for the carb slide. Easy as that

I wanna ask, I have a stock predator 224 has about 6 hours on it and now she idles fine but when I give it gas it bogs down. Any ideas ?

I recently bought a 212 and it did the same thing i just had to adjust the small black idle screw and it idles perfectly now

as the CM 265" cam comes in the mail from e bay... but which one, the hemi one or the non hemi one? ?????? going to take side cover off... new side cover gasket and CM 265" cam... no matter what name they put in front of it... its a 265" lift cam. stock is 220" lift. the mod 2 has NO MORE LIFT but more duration for RULES TYPE KART RACING??? POINTLESS to have in street kart or mini bike with no rules and it costs more than the CM 265" lift cam???? pointless to get the MOD 2 that everyone gets, pointless

cant see the big deal 12 more cc's for $40? the cost v benefit ratio is NOT THERE!!!! if they made it 250cc... 260... 275cc with 3" bore THEN that wud be something but 12cc's?? BIG DEAL, not for $40. maybe if its first stop after opening and disassembly is the machine shop for 3" piston?

I assume you think Wildcat or Tillotson isn't worth the extra cost? One thing for sure.is that this is no Wildcat or Tillotson. It's still a utility engine that needs clearancing work done to the block when using a billet rod. These kids aren't going to like that. You can't just pop in a billet rod and go.

It's worth it, it makes 1 extra horsepower stock too (red beard garage dynod it at around 7.5)
