The lighting on that thing is lacking. I don't think anyone could see it coming, except at night.

bamf10mm I saw it only by daylight.

I see on KZfaq in different US regions similar light-fitted ambulances.

it's the video that makes it seem that way, this thing is pretty hard to miss, even from a distance. they are small but very bright, especially during the day.

I like this kind of DFD EMS ambulance over their Brauns. Does the DFD still have these kinds of ambos?

I think so.

In the early 80s, many departments resented being told to drive orange and white ambulances/squads. The DOT thus started ignoring the color requirements. Many fire agencies desired to keep their apparatus near the same color scheme. There are some, such as Wheeling WV, that run orange apparatus. Some, such as Columbus OH have never, with two exceptions, ran anything but red EMS vehicles. (The Lifemobile (white with orange) and one type one Horton demo (white with red belt) were the exceptions. The KKK standards were developed and required at the time for vehicles purchased thru federal grants.

Well, I found this: '3.15.4.24 CODE “CPT” PAINT-CUSTOM COLOR. This option must be specified when ordering paint colors other than the standard white. The required color(s) must be stated.' I saw many different colors of US ambulances in the 1990's up to now. Back in the 1970's and 1980's the white with an orange stripe and the 'Star of Life' was common all around the States because of what you explained.

Steve Talbot is partially correct, as the KKK-1822 standard was originally developed to cover vehicles purchased with Federal Funding, but it is still in effect, and now governs services getting any federal money. If you transport a patient in a vehicle that DOES NOT meet the KKK-1822A standard, Medicare, Medicaid, and Medical Assistance, along with CHAMPUS (or any other Military Health Care plan) is onder no legal obligation to pay the bill.... Ignoring the rules doesn't mean they aren't still the rules... This is a beautiful Fire Truck, but is NOT an Ambulance...

Why did they switch over to Fords??? Lighting on it is weak, I assume money in an issue. Those International were gifts right???
@BeytekinConstructionMachinery9 жыл бұрын
Greg Stine International are Leasing ones ( declared as donated, but that's not true in reality ). In my believe FORD's trucks are the best of the world. I don't know if Ford Motor Co. did a nice price. ;o)

Greg Stine internationals are trash and cost a lot more to maintain. and yes they were gifts

Benjamin Beytekin when the internationals get outnumbered, I think they'll get sent to El Salvador or Mexico.

OK here's the deal. KKK is a standard. Not a law. There is a difference. Here where I am, the county life squads are white and orange....they are purchased with federal grant money and have to meet the standard to get the payout. The fire Depts purchase their squads with tax income and revenue. So they are not required to follow the standard. A standard is NOT a law. It is put in place to make municipalities accountable for meeting criteria for federal and state funding. There is a difference. As far as you saying that medicare, medicaid, and what not can refuse payment if these standards are not met, you are wrong. If this was the case, private EMS services would never survive. Medicaid is NOT a federally funded program so it would not be able to use the guideline as a basis for non payment. Private services have never painted trucks white and orange, or red. Just out of respect for municipalities so there is no confusion as far as who is who. And before you question my knowledge on this, I do work for a private service that deals with medicare and medicaid on a daily basis and also am tied into a municipality so I have some solid knowledge on the topic.

That's a very pretty Fire Truck, but it's not an Ambulance..... By federal law, Ambulances are supposed to be painted Omaha Orange & Imron White.
