We go hands-on with the new Fanatec CSL Elite Pedals V2, which are unveiled and available for sale today.
Priced at €299,95, $299,95 USD and $499,95 AUD, this set includes throttle, a load cell brake and clutch pedals, made from cast and machined aluminium. They are compatible with PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
In comparison to the 2016 'V1' items, this is all in one package. Previously, the Load Cell brake pedal was an optional upgrade. Additional chassis strengthening has been added to the rear of the chassis and the way you adjust the brake pedal's set-up has a new method.
For longevity's sake, the brake and clutch now use hall-effect magnetic sensors as opposed to potentiometers. The main change, however, is the actual load cell that delivers braking feedback, as it's an all-new design.
Watch this video to see how John Munro gets on with the new device and let us know in the comments below if you think these are a worthy upgrade.

Hi all, just a small correction on the load cell rating figure I mentioned.... I said the rating was 150kg but looking at the Fanatec website, the most up to date figure says >200kg. Apologies!

I got the V2.5 wheel , CSL DD with the boost pack , these pedals in the video, all for 550 bucks today on sale. For that money I couldn’t not do it.

"They both have the same load cell sensor" really? those load cells are completely different, V2 uses a small load cell integrated into the pedal arm that measures the bend in the pedal arm, and the V2 uses the same load cell type as the V3 and CSL LC that is at the bottom of the elastoplast stack, plus the V2 is much bigger in size. You also forgot the large price increase, at least in Australia, they jumped about $130. I am glad to see the improvements like the hall effect senors to fix the cheap pots that would also get dirty, and the improved LC design, as the V1 design suffered from wildly different pressure outputs depending on if you pressed on the top or bottom of the pedal due to the bending of the pedal arm being measured.

Wow that was the most kack handed attempt at adjusting the elastomer stack I've ever seen, gave me a really good laugh, thanks for that. Great set of pedals Fanatec's best brake pedal in my estimation, I ditched the V3's to get these and even with the V3's upgraded and dampened, they're not a match for the V2's. Outstanding brake pedal and you gotta spend a lot more cash to get significantly better. One thing that worries me slightly is the lack of adjustment but in use I've found that there's enough adjustment on my rigs pedal tray so this really isn't an issue.

I got these during the black Friday deal. I find the brake pedal to be really hard even with the blue spring and the 3x 65 elastomers. Little to no travel. When I tested them the room was really cold, I wonder if the elastomers will get softer if they're in a hotter room. What is your experience with them, I only really tried them for a few minutes.

How are you able to "squeeze" the pedals as much as you did at 12:05? I´ve read a lot about people (including me :c) not being able to do so. I am really wondering, if I am just physically unable to do so, despite having tried to really push them to the limit as hard as i can, or if it has another cause. (softest configuration and mounted). Therefore, i cant reach 100% breaking force even on 20 Brf.

@@zanetti20 I’ve got the same question, from what I read the V2 have got newer technology than the V3 hence it seems that the brake pedal feels better but that’s all. Source, Reddit and Fanatec Forum. But they are pretty similar after all in the other areas.

just started my interest in Sim Racing and discovered your channel by searching about assetto corsa. Thanks for many informative videos 👍 also can you recommend the setup for assetto corsa competizione? As I understand Fanatec has bundles for F1 or Gran Tourismo, which one is good for assetto corsa competizione?

Honestly it matters more about your budget than anything else. If you can afford it, go full Direct Drive but that is one very large investment.

I bought the 2-pedal CSL Elites, planning to upgrade with a load cell kit later on. But then they pulled that. Now I need to buy a whole new replacement version instead of just adding a load cell brake kit?! Argh! Still... it's on my Xmas wish list

@alexcastaneda7761

I am researching this at the moment, and for me I am going with v2. I don't care too much for having a clutch, and IF I am going to use a clutch, then it is so much easier to add it when I need it. With the v3, it's such a pain to swap between 2 and 3 pedals and also need additional mods to make that work. The load cell brake is the star of the show and from what I have seen, it is on par with the feel of a v3 (or better). I really love the look of the v3 and I like that the clutch is 2 stage, but overall the v2 is a better value.

@@alexcastaneda7761 Thanks mate! I came to a similar conclusion and today morning I ordered V2 🙂 Racing Assetto Corsa Competizione so clutch is really doesnt matter. I had TM T300 and when I got Fanatec DD Pro it is completely another level in every measurable points... So I hope that will be same step from T-LCM, which are for me on hardest setup to soft and has strange feel

Near the beginning you said up to 90kg of foot pressure, when testing you said the load cell can take up to 150kg. So which is it? Are we saying the sensor can take up to 150kg, but the pedal itself shouldn't take more than 90kg to avoid damaging, or is it that one of the statements had the wrong figures?
@TraxionGG
@TraxionGG Жыл бұрын
These are two seperate figures for different things. You can apply 90kg of pressure physically, but the leverage involved in the process/mechanism results in a different 'actual' force by the time it reaches the load cell sensor. So the rating of the load cell sensor is a seperate number. The Fanatec website has the most up to date figures with all of that information on the website, and it's saying >200kg, so even more than the 150 mentioned! I am no expert on the exact science behind this but hopefully this basic explanation makes sense.

As someone just getting into the sim sport, I have seen this reference to "lock-up" with other reviews on other pedals, like the Moza SR-P, which is what I was looking at purchasing. I am trying to understand what it is and if I need to avoid it.
@revozzz
@revozzz Жыл бұрын
Lock-up is a term that is used to describe your tires "locking up"/freezing when you brake to hard.. When your tires aren't turning you can't steer and will lose time.
