In "Skippy Stuck In The Past", Taryl goes over WHY this brand new sawmill won't start. What's going on with it?! See why in this here video. Prior to and after the fix, local yokel, Skippy, comes in for more than a spark plug this time and is looking for a new engine. He's looking for a price match but there's one problem with his pricing... it's from 1978! See how the whole hilarious scenario plays out here. And as always... There's Your Dinner!!

Boggles my brain. I use to help them and do it free for them. After the third time I said enough I told you how many times to winterize the mower showed them ! Nope, one neighbor leaves it out behind the shed. I could scream!!! Lazy?! Theirs your 🥘 dinner!!!! Thanks Taryl I love this channel!!!!!🎊 ❤

I like Sta-bils marine grade stabilizer. It is formulated to PR everything ent I ethanol fuels from destroying fiberglass tanks in boats. They were designed before ethanol fuel was a thing. It works well for storing fuel as well as preventing carb damage. One thing I do on my small engines is to run them completely dry. I may mix up a small amount of fuel with a double dose of B14 chem tool then put in a bit off this in the tank and run it dry. This gives the carb a cleaning before storage. In the spring I use a thankful of this double dose B14 for the first tank then go to regular fuel. If they start to run a bit off they get another tank or two of the B14 double dose fuel. This usually helps keep things running smoothly. Occasionally I might need to do a carb clean on something but not near as often as I use to.

From the appearance of the connection between the carburetor and air filter I'd be suspicious of an air leak at that point. Taryl probably fixed it when he replace the carb after cleaning. Ethanol fuel only works in cars because we burn it up so fast. Let your car sit around for months with ethanol fuel and you can have trouble too.

Once years back I had an old push lawn mower that when I was done with it I always just let it sit in the rain and weather but it always started near first try for way over a year. . Then I I got smart and put it under a lean to shelter with a roof and no walls, and I covered it up with a tarp. That spring it never started....No spark...magneto and flywheel covered in rust from compensation...LOL direct sun light outside kept it dry from warm sunlight....But under a tarp the water moisture built up and rusted everything

I started to notice quite a few years back that small engines using the regular gas with ethanol started to have more starting problems after sitting for a few months, and having to replace the fuel lines a lot sooner than before. When the ethanol absorbs water, it becomes that whitish gel like fluid. When the machine sits for a while, then that whitish fluid dries up and leave a white powder and coats and plugs the internals of the carb. I have advised many people about using the ethanol free gas, which is usually 89 or 90 octane, which in my opinion helps the motor to run slightly cooler. But most people don't want to pay the extra cost for the E free gas, I guess they would rather pay for more repairs ang carb cleanings, and not having the machine start when they need it. You can pay it now, or you can pay a lot more later!

I have this exact same sawmill and it works great. NEVER use ethanol gas in your small motors. It's like POISON to small engines. Always use non-ethanol gas with fuel stabilizer added, which eliminates many problems. Non-ethanol gas is not available at every gas station. I've found that gas stations near lakes where boat engines are used often sell non-ethanol gas. It costs about $1 more than regular gas, but it's worth it! Love all of the Taryl videos, keep up the good work!!

Between the gas shut off valve and carburetor drain screw you should be able to winterize that saw very easily. Unfortunately many people no longer have an option for ethanol free gasoline, Ontario Canada pretty much phased it out in 2024 and i suspect the long line of curbside equipment pickups will be in full swing later this year ramping up to a avalanche of equipment in 2025. Many small engine equipment is not worth repairing due to the low cost such as lawnmowers, so looking forward to making a few dollars in picking them up and making them breathe new life. We already know fuel additives are junk by Taryl’s long term 18 month testing video’s, so shutting down equipment properly is paramount to keeping small engines running after the off season. Cheers.

This is a pretty common occurrence here in Southern Minnesota with seed tenders and liquid fertilizer trailers. They get run two to three weeks a year with 87/ethanol blend in them and then get parked for the season after that. The following spring the customer is mad because their engine won't start and they can't plant corn or soybeans because of typically, a Honda GX series engine with bad gas in it won't start.

Water in the gas mostly comes from condensation in humid conditions. We sump drain the fuel in the planes every time we fly they get some water in them even overnight. Put an ounce or 2 per gallon of Seafoam into the fuel you will never gelling issues . It is also good for cleaning out dirty gas tanks. Put it in your car gas tank it works better than fuel injector cleaner as well.
