The CrystalDisk Mark figures on the screenshot that you showed are for your very fast SSD NOT the USB sticks. USB sticks typically run from about 30 -100 MB per second with some very expensive stick reaching ~ 300 MB per second

Colin-love your videos. If you start selling Video99 branded coffee mugs, I'll be happy to purchase the first one. Greetings from a fan in NL.

It's not really a "minus R", the dash there is just a dash. NTFS > NTSC, any time. The not keeping files policy is acutally very reasonable, especially, if there would be a data breach, you'd think a printing company wouldn't be targeted, but you can never be too sure.

Taiyo-Yuden discs were highly sought after in a video game development, homebrew and prototype community I used to be in. Something to do with the dye being superior than most other discs and almost all cheap bulk (think the Maxell's of the world, which I actually quite liked) With that in mind there may be some resale value to yours if you are considering having a clear out.

Yes I would like to clear some of those out.

I didn't know that dvd's were a dead format, although i do burn backup data to dvd's. I hate losing data. (often i make two identical disks (just in case they fade). I also save to a real hard drive, never any problems. The yellow usb stick did look nice, the print looked very nice :-D One thing that would be nice is a write protect switch (like they used to have years ago). Protection for peoples videos, might be worth a looking into. For a one man band, you do an excellent service :-D

There are still plenty of movies and tv shows released on DVD. But for recording one's own stuff it's declining. Many new computers don't come with a DVD drive any more.

Out of curiosity, have you encountered many CD-Rs/DVD-Rs that have gone bad? I have some DVD-Rs that were made in the early 2000s that went bad within a few years. I managed to back up some bits at the time, but unfortunately, some of the videos are lost. I got some Datawrite Yellow DVD-Rs back in 2006, and found the ones I recorded back then are still working fine now :). I still have some of my original stock as I never used DVD-Rs much, but I do occasionally ponder buying some more just in case.

Customers often send CDs and DVDs that have low quality dyes. The Taiyo Yuden DVDs that I use, never seem to fail. For CD-R, TDK were particularly good. In general, non-rewritable CDs and DVDs are more stable than RW.

I do upload some material for customers but our broadband is quite poor so it is quite limited. I have 0.12 petabytes of disk storage here, to give you an idea of the sort of files I have to deliver.

Unfortunately those new sticks are cheap and nasty - have seen these in many various forms and they're flimsy and don't perform well and have had them die too. Just be careful...

I'm not sure that the outer casing is a guide to what silicon is used inside. The supplier match dies to customer requests, they are not just off the shelf sticks.
Bad customers, or is it me?
