I can't thank Brandon enough for starting his 3Ds Max series on KZfaq. I was there, following it, eager for every new episode back in the day. Following all the steps, rewinding over and over, every step of progress I made on my parents "best buy home computer", was like magic to me lol. He was the pioneer, one of the first to do full pipeline rendering tutorials on KZfaq, from creating a sphere, all the way to compositing your own images. Now I'm a Houdini Fx Artist with 2 years of experience in the industry, working on movies and tv shows because Brandon was so generous enough to share his knowledge to the internet and get young minds inspired :) I can't thank you enough Brandon!

I had a similar transitional period with Freddie. After VGHS wrapped up, I noticed a change in the channel and the way it was running. I relate to Brandon’s “stick to the man” kind of attitude (being a psych/sociology student as well). Corridor are the guys who are still living the Dream I had when I was a kid. Making creative/cool videos with your friends. In some ways Corridor are the last “free” ones, you know? There is a business side of things yeah but they seem to be able to... well do what they want I guess. Regardless, it’s good to see Brandon doing what he loves. He was a staple in my childhood and is still around now.

I think both parties were right here. Freddie Wong wanted to make more traditional media using new media as a platform, when he got the chance he ran with him. Who are we to say he was wrong? I am no longer subscribed as I do not enjoy the content but he owes me nothing, he does owe himself and his vision though. And that exact argument applies to Brandon also, he left an established company that he helped build because it didn't line up with what he wanted Todo. He clearly enjoyed making new media content. When he left he did a lot of stuff with gaming on Node and he found a new passion (or reignited a pre-existing passion) for game creation. Both are doing what they want Todo despite there being viable arguments for why both shouldn't have gone that route. They are doing what they want Todo and all we can do is applaud them. Do I miss the short clips with Brandon in his iconic red and black striped T? Yes of course, but I as a fan have no right to dictate where their respective careers goes

@It's Dre Wait seriously? Freddie is one of the chilliest, least self-aggrandizing guys in every shoot. He's obviously still the boss, but he's never come off as actually cocky and arrogant about himself. You're talking glibly about companies you don't understand (and, indeed, most of us in these comments don't understand). You can blame Freddie for going corporate, or you can applaud him for finding ways to sustain and pay a bunch of really talented people who are doing good work. Now certainly, not all of that work hits to the degree it used to, but that's also a reflection of how far KZfaq and general content creation has come in the years since they started. As Brandon says, you can't be at the top of the game forever - and it's clear that Freddie, just like Brandon, wasn't interested in chasing that dragon anymore. It's perhaps ironic that they were the ones who spawned some of that movement in the first place. But it's not bad. Again, RocketJump is a company that still maintains a decent-sized core staff to do work in and beyond KZfaq. I would not call that crumbling.

People keep trying to make his leaving more than it is, it's not like they never talked about it for years like with the Game Grumps and Jon Tron split which caused wild speculation. They had a different opinion on making things and honestly with the way RJ has kinda rolled back a bit to it's old ways in some regards (ACD on Crunchyroll is long form content which reminds me of the early VGHS days, but it's not as ambitious as the Hulu Series) it feels like Brandon was right to find a new passion for himself. Sometimes you just don't like your job and want a different one.

I guess Brandon got us in the divorce. I haven't really been impressed with what RJ put out after VGHS, not that they were able to output that many vids in the first place. Anime Crimes Division was prolly the only notable work post-VGHS, and even that was basically just tried and true network drama formula with creative anime references sprinkled throughout a series that constantly metas itself so we'd be laughing with it, not at it. Granted, it was very well-executed (just like all of Freddie's works, past and present), but I was shocked that Freddie/RJ had that much trouble coming up with creative ideas after Brandon jumped ship. I was always under the impression that they split their creative workloads just like they split camera duties. But clearly that was not the case.

Honestly hearing this kinda makes me a little sad FreddieW used to just be a bunch of mates pissing around and making mid-quality shorts that were enjoyable, it wasn't professional, and even VGHS was just mates all collaborating to make a series like how RvB first started out It's great they're going more professional money wise sure, but imo it kinda takes away how it used to feel watching it, knowing that you and your mates could do all the stuff they did in the videos too, just with a camera and computer, and all of it would be affordable, same with RvB, theater mode and some button binds and there you go, off you were making machinimas, stopped watching RvB as soon as they started going toward motion capture more.

When Freddiew and Corridor Digital were still in their early days I remember being far more interested in Corridor Digitals content. A shame to see Freddiew (Now RocketJump) slowly degrade into a more commercial channel. Im very happy to see how Corridor developed and grew and am excited for their future.

They aren't a channel, they're a company producing content with regular jobs. They have their own original content like VGHS, D404, and ACD, as well as a bunch of stuff that they've produced on contract for other companies. Their lives don't revolve around YT and frankly, that's perfectly okay. Corridor has probably taken up some contracts as well considering how long they've gone between main channel uploads.

The Conquering Enigma Yea thats what I meant. Apart from being hired for commercials and other companies to produce content; Corridor Digital is still in charge of their original content and is constantly developing new projects for themselves unlike RocketJump as seen in their behind the scenes channel. RocketJump ditched that “homemade” style content unlike Corridor which continues to produce new videos when they arent working on larger productions.

Damn never knew he even left I discovered Freddies channel when I was around 9 ever since I was a fan and slowly went to Corridor around 2013 due to corridor making more action videos which is why I liked Freddies channel. Their videos made me want to meet all of them and just hope I could be in the action videos as an extra or something.

I remember Freddie dropping a video which titled everything as "Phase 1" or something, that felt like the end of what the channel was at the time as it leaned into VGHS more. Which I don't mind, I like VGHS and what it meant for creators taking the risk in creating longer formed content like that at the time, but it isn't the same as it was. The platform changed, the people changed, the times changed. But I am happy to see Brandon doing well, I remember his incite with video creation, the game he created, etc.

When I was introduced to node, I honestly thought D was Freddie after losing weight. I was a fan of FreddieW but stopped watching when it switched to Rocket jump. When a friend showed me node, I recognized Brandon and thought it was the same crew. D being Asain and Freddie not being there, the only conclusion I came to was they are the same people.

Okay but like how does have actor trailers affect the creative side of VGHS? How does it affect anything for that matter? That’s what happens when you do something big and important. I guess he’s saying it wasn’t Indy enough or something but that’s really weird

Having recently rewatched the VGHS season 1 behind the scenes videos, I noticed Brandon was in them a lot more than Freddie. I wonder if that was due to Brandon deliberately taking a backseat and therefore being more available for the BTS stuff; or if it's because Matt Arnold was also a director, meaning there were 3 directors, and Brandon was left with little to do. Because three directors for a webseries is kind of ridiculous.

It's not *that* bad if you can manage to split up the episodes between the three. Unfortunately, I don't think they did that, and that's where it ultimately hurt them stress wise. If they had one doing three episodes, then it probably would have made it a bit easier and would have fixed that problem

yo corridor crew, a little tip, crank up the volume levels, you're videos are usually coming through WAY lower then most other things, so when im listening to your podcast it's hard to hear over whatever else i'm doing (usually playing games)

I’m honestly a bit surprised that all of you except Sam drastically lower your voices during CC episodes. Even Tom Scott kept his general volume down a lot when hosted by Wren. Is the CC studio adjacent to a room/workspace where keeping the volume down is mandatory to prevent disturbance?
@DenisRyan
@DenisRyan 5 жыл бұрын
PommacX I'd imagine it's the physical space itself. It's the room at the end of the studio, under the kitchen area. It looks like they've painted it and furnished it to be a more cozy space, and it's just naturally inviting people to talk in hushed tones while in there, mostly subconsciously.
@HeyJD123
@HeyJD123 5 жыл бұрын
@@DenisRyan If that's the case, perhaps they need to open it up a bit more, liven it up and make it brighter. Having enthusiastic, slightly loud, voices make for great comedic moments which feel a lot more entertaining. You can slightly see this happening Joe Rogan's podcast where they basically end up shouting at each other every podcast episode, which makes it entertaining (interestingly, they're in a nice big open room). Same thing with H3H3's podcast. Though if they're going for a bedtime podcast perhaps it's a stylistic choice to be soft and calming.
