Great advice on tires for steet car. I love being able to break the rear end loose a little bit at low speeds.

Yeah, the Miata is a load of fun that can be had pretty close to the posted speed limit. 😁

My #1 Mod is lightening my stock Flywheel down to 12 lbs. I have your Sway Bars. They work so good, after ten years they tore my stock Sway Bar Mounts. I replaced them with your Heavy duty sway bar mounts.

I've been back and forth on sway bars as I've heard from some Miata drivers that a bit of body roll is good to load up the outside wheel while cornering?
@FlyinMiataVideo
@FlyinMiataVideo 21 күн бұрын
Good question! If the bar has an extremely high spring rate, you might not get enough load transfer but our bars are focused on street performance so, there shouldn't be an issue.

Does that naca duct front headlight cover increase turbo sounds and offer any noticeable benefits or mostly just show
@FlyinMiataVideo
@FlyinMiataVideo Ай бұрын
A properly designed naca duct will give you some benefits but we never had any hard data to back up the lid mod on this one.

You guys have a bit on faulty coolant sensor symptoms. Like one on the back of the block? I own a stock 92 Miata and heard it could cause various issues when going bad. Maybe a video idea if you haven’t touched on it.

Hmm, the one that controls the gauge or sends data to the ECU? Either way, I'd start with checking your grounds since it seems the early NAs weren't as robust in the electrical dept.

If you had a Randall and now have a reason not to use it, I'd cover the hole so that you don't pressurize the engine bay. For low effort and high results, I'd use aluminum tape. For something that looks like you thought about it, get some thin gauge metal, cut it to the shape, paint it, and use silicone to attach it to the firewall. After that dries, clean the excesses off and paint the exposed edges.

Won't a heavier front swaybar on stock suspension make the car more understeer-y? Or is it sort of compensated by the one in the back?
@FlyinMiataVideo
@FlyinMiataVideo Ай бұрын
If you only change the front bar and nothing else, you will get more understeer. But if you change both front and rear, it's possible to keep the same handling balance as it's the relative front and rear roll stiffness that matters. We did a video on sway bars a while back. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pb-RoqeYsqnRpJc.html

Yes for the widescreen version! So does the sway bars make that much of a difference? 🤔 I’ve been holding on those, but it seems that it will have to be. The braces I really want them but they go quickly, as well as being an important investment. I really like the intake, however I have been having a problem with the “ribby” bit on the oval part on my 1.6, mostly that it is ripped within the “ribs” so it is a pain, and will have to solve it differently, who would think that the engine moves that much 🫠 Love these videos that recommend stuff to get

Get the sway bars. You won't be sorry. Save yourself the wait and have new end links on hand before you start the job.
@mrw40
@mrw40 Ай бұрын
@@biglar155 I have recently changed the end links (probably less than a year since the switch), should I rereplace them for new ones? Or more specialised ones? My use is merely daily/street, thanks
@biglar155
@biglar155 Ай бұрын
@@mrw40 If you just changed them out, then don't worry about it. Mine were original 23 year old end links so they were too rusty to remove without damaging them. The adjustable ones are only necessary if you plan on making major changes to ride height or you are getting into serious track-tuning stuff. For street, stick with stock. The problem with this stuff is that it's too easy to get caught up in throwing money at "performance" adjustments you'll never touch because it's supposed to be "better" or "everyone else" is doing it. The FM videos do a good job of sorting out what you need for your application if you pay close attention. (They don't want you feeling like you wasted money and then blaming them for selling it to you!) Mine's a street car like yours and I found the new sway bars to be the single most noticeable improvement I've made. Even more than the Koni Special Active shocks I bolted on two weeks ago (which are awesome, but I digress).
@mrw40
@mrw40 Ай бұрын
@@biglar155 yeah I changed them for stock ones, and was probably still wearing the factory ones it came with 30 years ago, I’ll start to save up for the sway bars in that case, thanks
@FlyinMiataVideo
@FlyinMiataVideo Ай бұрын
It looks like it's already been stated so, I'll follow along. The sway bars are the single best low cost improvement you can do on this gen for handling. After that, I'd start on chassis stiffening as you've mentioned. Thanks for watching!
