I'm wondering if you take suggestions for vids... If not just ignore. But what I was hoping to see here, was "how to grind for longer" and "how to do tricks that require you to spin or turn in your switch way" (if that makes sense) my dominant foot is my right, but becuase I turn easiest to the left I royale with my left foot doing the back slide part of royale... I'm trying to fix this by learning to turn to my right instead. If you could do a vid on this that would be awesome. Also how to jump onto a handrail, I've always struggled with jumping to a height. Anyway just suggestions if your stuck for inspiration. Honestly I have super enjoyed your tutorials. They seem to be very detailed and clear, and I feel will help me a lot. Thanks again

I'm always looking for new ideas/suggestions. Great Ideas! I'll get on to making those asap! A huge tip for holding grinds is to look at the end of the obstacle as soon as you lock the grind, and really try get your shoulders over your feet. Switch spins grinds are very hard, it just takes practice. A tip to jump high is to use your arms. try spring down fast before you jump too. Think down, up as you jump. Very hard to explain without video😆 I find that really helps me get more height. Thanks for watching!

Unity next please or top soul, kind grind, porn or a video explaining the difference between in/out spin, ally-opp or hurricanes are. I like the summary. After watching it once at home I can just check the summary at the skatepark before trying it.

Ill keep those sugguestions in mind. Think I could teach the unity the best. A video explaining trick terms is a good idea too, i will probably get them wrong tho haha. Cheers for the feedback man ✌🏻 ill keep the summary in then.

Hey man thanks for this... Can you tell me what tip number four is? Its not clear to me. Thanks
@BrandonDrummond
@BrandonDrummond 4 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for watching! Step 4 is to do the grind very short on the end of the obstacle. Or tap the end in other words. This is just to build confidence. I hope you learn a new trick!

Hey Brandon, i really love your video's. I've been skating a long time but i'm not able to do a royale. I noticed that you said royales are easier than fronside (in your royale video), but somehow i never manage to slide it. My dominant foot is left, so when i royale it's the trailing foot. But i always slide out on my left foot and ending on the left side of my body (hip, ribs, shoulder). So my question is; how is the weight distributed on the left and right foot during royales? I know i should lean my body more to the right so i don't slip out, but then i stand more on my right foot and i don't slide at all.. I don't know, maybe i'm not flexible enough in my knees.. Thanks for reading this long boring comment and much appreciation if you want to give some pointers. Keep up the good work, love it!

Hey, Thanks for the comment. I already disagree with my statement in that video. I think I've become a bit out of touch with learning royals haha. Royals are a safer trick than frontsides once you've learnt them. but they're much harder to learn then frontsides. Your trailing foot should be taking around 60% of your weight, towards your toes (For Frontside Royal). You want to have your feet right bellow your shoulders and be slightly leaning towards your leading foot. Your Leading foot shouldn't be taking as much weight as your trailing foot. Try having you skates a little loose and focus on bending your knees and getting lower. When I learnt it switch, I found the best way to stay in the backslide plate was to put my weight on my toes. If you are landing in royal then coming out of the backslide plate, turning into more of a styley frontside, then you are on the right track. Stall the trick as often as you can and keep trying it. One day it will just work. I hope that helps in some way, Good Luck! and thanks for the support 💪

I don't believe you truly learned a trick till you've done it at least 100 times and it's fully in your vocab but yeah

Every time you mention disliking the trick names I cringe...I think it's representative of the era the tricks were developed in. I was always super excited when box magazine or daily bread had a trick I had never seen before, and memorizing the name was a big part of the fun for me, which eventually became a part of my identity, if you will. Do you think the need to be invested in skating is a bad thing? I think if we water it down so it's easier to access, it still won't get ppl that would never try it, to give it a try. Maybe if theres a trick name that doesn't make sense to you, ask the older guys, they prob remember when it first made rounds. Example being that backside is the basic grind with your back side to the object, whereas backslide implies your foot leaning back and sliding on mostly boot and nothing else but a little frame

I would never want to dumb down the name of tricks, I just find it funny how all over the place they are. I get the history and its dope, don't get me wrong. It's just funny at times.
