Today is a special treat of a video if I do say so myself! We go down to DriveTanks.com and get some ranch time with some of the rare German machine guns that saw use during WW2! I was stoked to make this video, and hopefully it’s just as fun to watch!
Again, thanks to DriveTanks.com for having us out with the Gun Drummer crew!
And thanks to SDI for sponsoring! Go to SDI.edu for more info!

@@FirstDagger I wouldn't say a M1 garand won the war lol regardless of what Patton said about it. It was a good rifle period. Germany had just as good of semi auto rifle designs the problem was they didn't have the resources the US had. And on top of that by 1943 the resources they did have were of very low quality thanks to not having acess to good iron and steel anymore. The real reason we won the war is not a rifle lol but we out produced them and Germany had to fight Russia in the east as well. Plus the STG44 is better than a M1 garand and the m2 in most ways that matter, hence why the design was copied by so many others and the m2 and m1 were not. I argue if d-day happened with a prepared German force that was not split in 2 fronts it would have been a utter failure.

I was a gunner on the M2 50 cal. in the Marine Corps back in the early 70's . The 50cal. can't hold a candle to MG42 on the rate of fire but I would say the size of the rounds of the 50 makes up the difference. The Germans did have some excellent guns without a doubt.

Due to its high rate of fire, the MG15 was one of the first machineguns to be fitted to Luftwaffe bombers used during the Spanish Civil War and the early days of WWII. It was mostly phased out by 1942 (the advent of the MG42) but it remained in use on light bombers and some older aircraft. The MG42 was eventually replaced as well by the MG131, a larger and heavier 13mm machinegun, in most German aircraft by 1943. The MG15 saw continued use in the German Army mostly as a reserve weapon while the MG42 was the primary light machinegun for the remainder of the war.

My Dad was in a Tank Brigade during WWII.. at the end of the war they found a gun manufacturing company and everything that the enemy was shooting they were just lined up on racks all brand new..My Dad was able to bring back his tank from WWII and had it in the driveway..But before it was shipped to the states he filled the inside of that tank with about 500 machine guns, helmets, German Ruger's, P38, Walther PPK's..I know another guy that was a fighter pilot after World War II his property is in Columbus New Jersey was about 20 acres and they were filled with every fighter plane you could think of including the 50 cal machine guns on Top and in the front he had his whole property surrounded by a 12 ft fence with barbed wire at the top..You name it he had it all..This guy had WW-2 on his property he had about 10 military Jeeps..In the back they had the radio and in the center a 50 cal machine gun about five half-tracks everything he had was America..Most were the size of a 747 commercial airplane.. My Dad he had the American Tank but he also had a lot of brand New German military machine guns and handguns.. my grandfather he was a World War one he had two old BAR's.. a couple other rifles and handguns..Then after Vietnam I was able to bring back a couple cool weapons that were mine or the enemies..To me I look at it as generations of great military fighter's..🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸...You would be surprised how much German artifacts came back from WWII..So much was getting stolen I heard they had to put armed guards I guess to keep the GI's from stealing everything that wasn't nailed down..Why not they fought and they conquered..

The German Army in early 1944 made an official decision to replace the MG-42 as a squad weapon by replacing every weapon in the squad with the StG 44. The MG42 was to be moved up to Battalion level. Typically 3 men in the 12 (10-14) man squad were involved in operating or supporting the MG42. The NCO who lead the squad often had an MP40 and that would be replaced by a StG 44 as well.

1:42 Is this the Teufelslied? For those who ask: No it‘s a song called „Grüne Teufel“. It was rewritten for the Bundeswehr (the german army after WW2). To be able to sing the song, they changed things like „SS marschiert“ to „Ja wer marschiert“ or Wolgastrand (a polish river) to Oderstrand (a german river). Still a very critical song.

I have owned and played with most of the MG's available in America. The MG-42 is my hands-down favorite. Or maybe the M2HB. Both are orgasmatrons...

@@Patriotgal1 Well, the MG-42 is, in a derivative, still used to this day by the german Military as the MG3 so, I suppose on a purely engineering standpoint it is basically the German M2HB, just in different caliber. I sadly never had the luck to shoot an MG, or any gun really outside of videogames(tho H3VR does make up for that...kinda), due to European weapon laws, but even shooting those guns in Videogames will get...considerably worked up...

@@LunaNicoleTheFox The MG3 is currently getting phased out of the german military. It is a fine machine gun but not a very good one for infantry because it was build to be interchangeable between, planes, armored vehicles and infantry. This comes with drawbacks for the infantry as too high rate of fire and poor ergonomics. I expect a shitton of african warlords and mujahedeen to get nice christmas presents soon.

Songs (the ones without the title in the video): - Erika - Grüne Teufel (denazified version of "SS marschiert im Feindesland" [change Hitler to Freedom in the lyrics and you're good to go] and it was used not too long ago by the Fallschirmjäger) - Panzerlied - German National Anthem - Grün ist unser Fallschirm (Remix)
