* Construction of the Black church began in 1384, and it was completed in 1477. Originally named the Church of Saint Mary, it earned its "Black Church" moniker after a fire in 1689 blackened its walls. The Black Church is an excellent example of Gothic architecture, featuring impressive stone carvings and stained glass windows.
** The Citadel of Brasov, also known as Cetatea Brasov, is a historic fortress located on a hill overlooking the city. Construction of the citadel began in the 14th century, with various improvements and additions made over the centuries. It played a crucial role in defending the city against various invaders, including Ottoman and Habsburg forces. Today, it is a popular tourist attraction and a testament to Brasov's rich history and fortifications.
