Visiting Bratislava, Slovakia when you are already in Vienna, Austria is very easy, considering it is a quick and cheap one hour train ride between the two cities. It was a perfect day trip for me when I was in Vienna and husbandless for a morning!
Join Marti from "Down the Wrabbit Hole Travel" as she and her friend Jody slip away from Vienna for a morning to take the train to Bratislava. @@DowntheWrabbitHole No problem. ☺✌ I can't speak for them, but it seems to me that your content was a pivotal factor bringing Pusa 🎬 Studios to develop their current niche. There's more to it than just being Season 1 Episode 1. There's inspired vision behind it, and of course there are many other positive influences, but you are *S1E1* Get that wrong, and one is behind the 8 ball for sure. Obviously, they got it right. 👍

Marti how do you find all these amazing places to vlog about??? That was a beautiful castle!!! The view from above though..........😮😯 how fabulous!! The gardens alone, i would visit for sure. It's funny, because I literally just met Jody the day before. We were introduced by a mutual friend, who said, "Jody, Marti will go with you to Bratislava." And I did. ;) We just clicked! LOL

Very beautiful there. That's what I liked about living in Germany, its surrounded by other countries and every weekend you could spend in a different country :-) I never been there in Slovakia, but always wanted too :-)

It was an adventure for us - figuring out the rail system, then the trams, then finding our way around Bratislava alone. But we did pretty good, I think! :)

The Danube from above was so pretty! It was funny, because the river was so low when we went all the boat rides that people had booked were all cancelled. But it didn't look that low from up above! :)

We just did the Old Town area, but there's so much more to Bratislava as well. I can say for sure that the Old Town area was gorgeous; the rest of the city I have just seen in pictures. ;)

As much as I loved Vienna, it was fun to just get on a train, leave the city, see some countryside, and then somehow be in another country just for the morning! Europe is so fun that way! :)

Hehe, that sewer-worker statue is pretty slick! And yes, I could go for some coffee as well. You always have such a great presentation in your videos, my friend! Always so professional-looking. You are most definitely allowed to go up to the top of the UFO - there's even a restaurant up there - but we didn't have that much time and crossing that busy road/bridge kind of scared us! I think the view from the top of Castle Hill was good enough! ;)

Well, there' s a footbridge "under" the busy motorway or you could use bus to crosa the river, because acces to it is from other side. You can buy a ticket go up with elevator and you are in restaurant( its slowly rotating 360°😄) or just go to the observation place and admire a view.

Oh, wish I'd known about the underneath footbridge!! The road was too intimidating for us. Hopefully there is a next time - I'm all for a rotating restaurant! Thanks for the excellent information! :)

very cool video. But next time you dont have to worry, ussually all bridges, including Bridge SNP, have pedestrian passages, in this bridge they were going underneath the road along both sides of the bridge. Also did you know it is world's rarity in architecture, one of the few if not the only suspended, single-pylon bridge in Europe ?

I did not. I wish I had! Places don't seem to be stamping passports anymore, it's all electronic now. I think if you ask they will, but I never thought to. I miss the look of a passport filled with stamps!

Plan to spend almost a whole day getting there, touring around, and getting back. You could still have a fun evening in Vienna if you leave for Bratislava early in the morning. :)

Do you get the train from Vienna central station for visiting Bratislava ? Is it easy?

We caught a train that was leaving from the station literally across the street from our hotel. It was pretty straightforward - and we didn’t speak the language or have previous experience. Honestly, if I can figure it out, you definitely can! I get flustered and stressed about messing up this kind of stuff, but I was able to do it. We researched online what line to take, I don’t remember anymore what it was, but it was quite straightforward to figure out. Best of luck!!!

Just a correction about Čumil. He was not placed there to enlighten the communist architecture (there is barely any in Old town), he was placed there in 1997 during Korzo Party which was held as a celebration of pedestrian zone reconstruction. 😉

@@DowntheWrabbitHole It is old, it's the Old Town after all, they just fixed the pavement so you won't break your ankle because some cobblestones were very old.
