Boy, my dad would have loved to see this. He was a lifelong Cardinals fan and he grew up listening to Harry Caray. He still loved Harry even when he worked for the hated Cubs.

Fun game. Back when you could choose to watch either the Braves broadcast on WTBS or the Cubs on WGN. A big season for the Braves and a great game for my favorite, Billy Buck! Thanks for the video!

My dad loved cable TV. He was a Pirates fan, and the stations in Chicago, Atlanta, Cincinnati, and NY would always air the games at noon, or evenings. Free of course, except the cable bill, but it was not an arm and a leg that the major sporting event are costing today for a full season of football, Baseball, and Hockey, and of course the Olympics! When the Pirates played teams that were not cabled, he would watch the computer live form. You could always watch the good events in the Olympics, his favorite being boxing, but not today brother! You're going to open that wallet to watch those events. Winter as well.

Neat to see Harry and Skip chatting at the end of this one. Obviously, working for different teams, they never appeared together on camera a lot.

that was pretty cool! Love Harry’s quip at the end “this was just a sneaky way to give you a gift” Skip being quick as hell: “i’m more worried about the inheritance” 😂😆 Got a great chuckle out of his dad!

31:00 super slick play by Buckner and Sandberg! I wasn't expecting to see Bill Buckner escape the tag, since he had ankle problems throughout his career, but he did! All the while, Ryne Sandberg steals home! That is super smart playing! 😎

Interesting how many members of the 1980 World Champion Phillies is in this game. Walk, Noles, Moreland, Bowa and Vuckovich coaching 1st for the Cubs. Dallas Green was the GM for the Cubs.

With conditioning and training, access to advanced high-resolution video, players today definitely are bigger and stronger, and smarter when it comes to the craft. Now, we do still have players out of the lineup for "flu-like symptoms," the euphemism for "drank too much at the club the night before." And we likely always will.

@Matthew Baumgarten I just checked Wikipedia: St. Louis Browns 1953 St. Louis Cardinals 1954 Chicago Cubs 1955-57 Chicago White Sox 1961-65 Atlanta Braves 1966-75 Pittsburgh Pirates 1976-79 Chicago Cubs again 1980-1984 Houston Astros 1985-2012 Apparently he was a tough guy to get along with.

@@SerenityNow9015 I think it had something to do with how Milo left the Cardinals after the '54 season and whether or not Harry played a role in that. Then after '75, Milo gets replaced in the Braves' booth by Harry's son Skip. No wonder Milo hated the Carays.
