You all really think leaving your families is the solution when EVERY married couple has gone through their “test” and it’s insane. I believe they both need counseling consistently, not a divorce. Everyone's reactions to this make sense but are still creating a dynamic of toxicity. It may be frustrating, it may be hard, but it takes someone being someone's rock and anchor when they're as mentally scrambled as Dr. Contessa obviously is. look at what she's saying, really *saying* in this: she feels crazy, she feels confused, she feels like she's in groundhog day. People run back because they are being emotionally manipulated-- thoroughly! And she's said before that she has friends that reinforce the idea that this is HER fault so she HAS to be the one to fix it. It's fine to set a boundary with friends like these and it's even fine to want to avoid the conversation because you're exhausted, but I would extend that people be there for when the distress sets in, that they don't turn completely cold. Because then the cycle continues forever and it gets worse and worse. Some people can't do it alone. Some people really need the help.

Hi dear. I'd like for you to consider handling your situation like this ... practice listening to everything he says word for word and keep silent...silence is your friend sister. Let him say what he is saying and choose the moment to not retaliate..but to explain your stand and keep him in check and in place firmly ... you can raise your voice but preferably don't. But make sure to state your stand and never back down. If you learn to contain yourself and not fight back each time you will have enough to really think about your situation and what you want from his talking bs and you will be more prepared for when you do decide to let him have it. He will whip into shape.... otherwise yelling unnecessarily to eachother won't let you think

Divorce is the easiest way out and its not easy. If he would go to counselling with her it could save the marriage. But I am not sure if he is man enough to be truthful even in counselling. If he would be, they stand a good chance. That work is even harder than divorce and once again, not sure if he is man enough for it. Its just sad.

This is why I keep other people out of my relationship. Secondly, I am so glad that I am in my 20s and I’m learning what a healthy relationship looks like, what my boundaries are and my non negotiables. I refuse to with someone and crying my eyes out because they don’t want to change or do better. I’m always going to love myself more and put my mental health first. If you say the relationship is volatile, just leave.

Dr. Contessa is such a beautiful, and nice woman, and doctor. When she was in Nashville, she was in the hospital was doing my clinicals at. She was very sweet, intelligent, always warm, and willing to help. I unfortunately feel like at this point in their marriage Dr. Contessa wants to continue growing, and Scott wants to be stagnant. I wish them both the very best, but Dr. Contessa deserves a husband that supports her, and Scott does not.

When you're pretty, people rarely tell you because they assume you already know and assume everyone tells you that. Additionally, anyone including myself could say "well I'll be damned, if being pretty but not knowing you are is the worst of your problems then you got it easy" etc.

He lied. He is use to gaslighting her and getting defensive. (1) he didn’t remember that they spoke to the kids AND IT WAS A HORRIBLE conversation. (1a) how do you forget that? (2) he didn’t get the separation notice (2a) but he did get it because it came from an ATTORNEY, who does this for a living. (3) he didn’t remember when he got it (3a) oh! I did get it, but I opened my mail 2 months ago. (3b) it’s not believable … oh was it 6 months ago? (4) he and she NEVER discussed it (4a) we have really horrible fights (5) we said we would work through the separation. (5a) so… you acknowledge that you did get the notice for separation and we spoke about it? He is used to getting his way and her shutting up. He believed when he fed her garbage and lip service that it Cancelled the separation. That’s not how that works. He completely didn’t understand that she did not cancel the separation after listening to his garbage. So… the next step is divorce. He isn’t listening and he seems to be manipulative and abusive. So… maybe she should dip.

That made me really sad and frustrated for her. As far as communication goes, I do agree with that. But for Contessa, it's like Scott gives her NO other choice bc he doesn't listen nor noone seems to be home in his head. So shes frustrated and everyone handles things differently. Some keep it inside and some run to family and friends to talk out their feelings/frustration. That's what contessa does. Scott is just a assjerk trying to save face that's why he tells things outside his wife.

The one thing that I loved about this scene is that the men talk Scott into staying to address what's being said or the situation because he does have the removal syndrome of well I'm not dealing with it let me go and that's part of the communication problem that they have, he doesn't hear her or what's being said.
