@Us Us Maybe, but Joao is acting much differently this season compared to last (except for some rude comments to Aesha). However, you're allowed to evaluate yourself, change, grow, and mature as a person. This is by no means definitive, but judging by his behavior/actions this season it appears Joao has made an effort to change for the better. This is coming from a Joao hater last season. Lastly, you mention Joao pretends to be Mr. sensitive in between acting out aggressively. You can be sensitive and aggressive. Many people are. These are not mutually exclusive qualities. I'm not excusing his behavior from last season or his poor moments from this season, just clarifying something that you potentially overlooked. That is all :)

If you've noticed, João's few rude comments that he's made this season come only when he is drinking too much. I absolutely hated him last season, too, but he has really redeemed himself. He was kind of like the Travis of last season, binge-drinking and acting like a prick. But seeing himself like that on TV - combined with having his heart broken by Brooke - have really caused him to take a good look at his life and make some changes, and I respect that. The morning after his last judgmental comment about Aesha's dancing, he reflected on it (to Colin, I think) and said, "Why do I do that? That's me done for drinking." Because he realizes he's going to lose the crew's respect if he does that. And I don't think we've seen him make another comment like that since that night, because he hasn't gotten overly drunk and let 'Jezabub' out. I think that's part of the reason Travis' drunken behaviour bothers him so much - because it reminds him a bit of himself when he gets smashed. That, and he can't stomach violence against women, for obvious reasons. I really respect João for the changes he's made in his life since last year. Most of the time, he's kind and respectful to everyone on the ship - as long as he feels like everyone else is pulling their weight. A few of them call him 'The Morality Police', but for the most part, I agree with him. I never, ever thought I'd actually find myself liking and respecting João this season, but I do. Travis could change a few things about himself too, if he really wanted to, but he's too busy denying he has a problem. Until he recognizes that he does, that's not going to change. I really thought slapping Anastasia might be a wake-up call, but no, not only is he whitewashing that as "normal behavior," he feels like she's turned on HIM for calling him out on his drinking. It's a shame, because he'll ultimately find himself friendless if he keeps this up. Well, except for fellow partier/slackers like Jack...

Anastasia is just a drama queen looking to play the victim, overreacting to a playful slap that didn't really hurt at all, just because Anastasia craves attention. Aesha is a cool modern age girl that has fun being treated as one of the guys, while Anastasia is still operating under the old female mindset of wanting to be put on a pedestal like a frail little baby that needs to be tiptoed around.

Jack isn't helping by whitewashing his behaviour as 'social drinking,' either. I think even Jack knows that's BS, but he's afraid to say anything to Travis's face because he knows Travis will take that as Jack 'turning on him,' too. I have been in Travis' position, and I lost a lot of friends simply because they called me out on my alcoholism - and those were the ones who cared to stick around. It's hard to watch him come up with so many rationalizations as to why everyone else is wrong about his drinking and his poor behaviour. Then Aesha and Jack minimizing it as well, and even Anastasia sorta giving him a pass with the whole: he really helped me in the galley a lot. He may have helped you in the galley, but he also smacked or gave you an unsuspected 'love tap' while your eyes were closed. I mean, I wouldn't be fine or okay with it.
