When I was in retail we were told not to confront thieves in case they were violent, to just quietly call mall security or police and let them handle it. So waiting until she left to report it is not necessarily wrong. It’s probably the safest thing. This was a better video, more old school WWYD. Lately they’ve been going out of their way to pull bystanders in way too much. And I liked bringing back doing more than one type of actor

Ah, so refreshing to see this format back! The new ones are interesting, but this scenario seems much more realistic to me than a couple loudly arguing about having a baby/abortion in a crowded restaurant, so I prefer it. But hey, that's just my opinion. I always enjoy watching these clips.💙

Philosophical debates come to mind when dealing with billionaire large business owners. We all know billionaires not only buy politicians, but they are also buying authority to literally make the lower class suffer to the point of their ultimate demise by price gouging people out of their own homes. Is it then not self defense to steal and intentionally put them out of business? This is a serious debate that is beginning to appear all over social media because a larger and larger percentile of the U.S. population are struggling just to get by over what we now call greedflation, while the bought and owned politicians on BOTH sides refuse to put their own puppetmasters in their places. This is unsustainable even for the billionaire class. People everywhere are simply going to start stealing what they need and the billionaires will no longer be able to do business where that happens. That's bad for everyone. In my discussions of moral philosophies, I have arrived at the conclusion that if this life really is a test, but the greedy and the thieves are not going to pass the test of moral righteousness.

As someone who works retail shoplifting is an everyday occurrence and it’s getting frustrating. Most of the time the thieves either run out or customer informs me afterwards. I once did have a customer punch a prolific shoplifter a few times. Where I work I’m not even allowed to run out of the store to get a license plate number. Though if I can get a license plate number while still in the store I’m not breaking any rules. If you see shoplifting please let store staff know ASAP. Also if you can get a license plate number please do so. Most of the time shoplifters park farther away to get off camera.

I personally worked at the South Center Mall in the Seattle area in my college years and Victoria’s Secret AND Journeyz shoes told us NOT to apprehend or do anything to shoppers. It was crazy.

The fact most people never confronted the shoplifter face to face is a little sad.

I'll say something if I see someone stealing. Thieves are reason items keep getting put behind locked cases that you need to wait for an employee to open.

When I was in retail on multiple occasions I saw people blatantly shoplifting. We were supposed to report it to our security team - which I would do. But I would also ask the person directly if they would like a fitting room for the items in their bag. If they said no I'd just say, "Okay - your choice". Several got the drift and put the stuff back. Several did not and got arrested. This was 25 years ago though. Not sure if security even intervenes anymore because of liability issues.

Wouldnt the store have security cameras or would a sound go off when you walk out with an unpurchased item? in the past when I go to clothing stores you have to cut off this clip so people don’t shop left

I seen a guy steal something in corner store. Told the cashier as he waited on me. He just smiled and kind of waved his hand like its ok, don't want any trouble. I thought alrighty then. Grabbed my stuff and left. I think he was afraid to say anything which I don't blame him.

At this point, I think it's ridiculous the stealing it's made it messed up for everybody. You can't run in the store and buy something really quick to buy something you have to wait for them to unlock it because of these horrible thieves. But I also don't think it's the employees job to chase after these people. They don't get paid enough to fight people. Nowadays, I just like to order Amazon or do target pickup. I tried to avoid going in the store because it's ridiculous at this point.

In the show "Wordgirl," one of the villains is an old lady named Granny May who pretends to be a sweet, innocent, and defenseless old lady to throw suspicion off of herself. It's similar to what the old lady in the second half of the episode did.

it's not technically stealing until she leaves the store but definitely an opportunity to detain someone until you search their stuff
